Folate problems

3rd pregnancy, 8 weeks, all going well, however, I think me and folate are not getting along. I've been taking it since 4 weeks, and last week I developed a very dark mood that wouldn't shift, it was horrible! I was snapping at my children, questioning my relationship with DP, crying, raging. At first I put it down to hormones, then being busy I forgot to take the folate for a couple of days and my mood was much better. Took the folate then I went dark again. I've not taken it for a couple of days and I am back to my old self - full of fun!

I've had this before - taken b vitamins and gone miserable and angry. Folate is vitamin b9. I've read something about people who undermethylate are not good with folate. First I've heard of undermethylate - but the description fits me!

Has anyone not taken folate when pregnant? Or had this, or taken a lower dose. Obviously I want to do all I can for my baby, but I really don't want to be a depressed monster for the next 7 months either. Midwife appointment next week.
