I'm 11 and a half weeks pregnant, and I use to be a big foodie, I've been very ill for the past few weeks seems to be going away now although today I seemed to go back to square one and had a really sick day, ever since the sickness started my enjoyment for food has vanished, I can tell when something tastes OK or tastes bad but I don't enjoy it I don't get the same feelings the same reaction, food to me now are basically in 2 groups, foods that are bearable to eat and foods that are unbearable the enjoyment is gone, and I can't even explain how much I use to love food I would savor each and every flavour, and now it's gone is it normal? When will it come back I seem to be eating only to survive, because the foods don't taste delicious to me anymore :'(

Yes very normal. Will return to normal after I’m sure. I’m 27 weeks, had food aversions from day 1 and still having them. Never ever fancy anything and get full up very quickly. Was a big foodie before.

@OrcaBlondie I really hope so because I do love my food, did u also have problems handling food and cooking?

Early on yes. But during my second trimester my food aversions have been slightly less and I’ve been able to prepare and cook dinner.

I'm the same, I love cooking and I'm a real foodie who will try anything, but since pregnant I have no interest. I'm hungry of course and I eat, but I never think WOW I want to make that etc.

I used to make all sorts of dishes at home and now it is so basic - hope it comes back and I hope I actually have time to cook 🙈

All normal! Your love of food comes back don't worry. I struggled to even look at meat whilst pregnant and I'm a meat eater usually. Crazy what pregnancy does to you.

I was a massive foodie as well and most often binge-watch food review videos haha. Got no appetite and interest in food from 8W to about 16W. Now 20W and it’s starting to come back but I still gag handling raw meat while cooking dinner. You will get there eventually!

100% normal- I had to stop taking a packed lunch to work as I could never predict what I would want to eat - I would get hungry then decide what I wanted at that minute and go out and buy it- lucky I worked in a city centre so could get whatever I wanted/craved.
A plain ham sandwich would turn my stomach! I really craved spicy stuff so stuck with that- DS is an adult now but loves spicy food- it all went away by about 22 weeks and my appetite returned to 'normal for me'

I am second trimester with no2 and still can't enjoy food in the same way. It sucks. I think once I was into 3rd trimester with no1 things stopped tasting as much of sour milk and I could enjoy cooking and eating again. No advice, just lots of sympathy.

Riceyyyy · 03/11/2022 15:32

@scrambledeggy omg I also gey the sour taste in my mouth too!

I’m 12 weeks on Saturday and exactly the same, so I think it’s quite normal.
There’s pretty much nothing I fancy.

I’ve also started eating off small side plate as I can’t eat a ‘full’ meal without feeling very sick.

I’m sure it will come back at some stage, at the very least when the baby is here 🤞🏼
