When did you take a test?

Hi everyone,

My AF was due on Wednesday, still have nothing but I have noticed a couple of things different about myself, however nothing that stands out other than no usual PMS symptoms.

I have not taken a test yet. When did you test positive and when did you begin testing?

Been too nervous to test. I have some digital clear blue ones in store if needed. Just don't see the point doing it too early and wasting a test.

Was thinking of waiting at least a week after a missed period.

What are your thoughts/experiences?

Thank you

You're very patient. I've always tested from about 10dpo and with 2 pregnancies that's about the time I'd get a positive as well. Its commendable you can control yourself, the cheap £1 tests were in our shopping trolley most weeks 🤣

PinkButtercups · 30/10/2022 19:28

With DS the day of my missed period and a BFP.

This pregnancy 9DPO and again a BFP but I'm having twins. So I think that's why it lit up like a Christmas tree.

Got2besoon · 30/10/2022 19:28

God, you're far more patient than me.
The longest I've ever waited was the day after AF was due but I usually start at 9dpo (about 5 days before due on).

I just get so excited thinking I might be pregnant that I don't want to wait!

CloudyVenus · 30/10/2022 19:38

Thank you for all your replies. I think it's because I've taken so many before and it being negative makes me not want to even find out as I feel like it will just be repeated.

I do have irregular cycles but my last AF was exactly 7 weeks between and my last AF was on the 6th of September so I'm unsure but I felt like I ovulated on the 10-12th of October with my symptoms and with considering this, I am thinking of waiting 2 weeks after expected AF.

I also don't have really any symptoms other than during the week I felt like I had a UTI coming on or something and stomach issues the last 2 or so weeks with some watery CM and no AF.

I always tested the day after AF was due. Didn’t see any point wasting tests before then. I was regular so actually only ended up testing when actually pregnant. DD2 didn’t show up as positive first test, so waited 3 days and tried again, got bfp then.

NoWordForFluffy · 30/10/2022 19:42

Tested 9 DPO both times. Both positive.

britneyisfree · 30/10/2022 19:45

Never! I didn't actually no for sure sure until my first scan which was at about 13ish weeks.

I mean I knew but I didn't know if that makes sense!! Good on you for being patient. I think these test companies are making ridiculous amounts of money because of all this daily testing bollocks and I say that as someone who suffered with fertility problems - it took YEARS to conceive and successfully deliver.

CloudyVenus · 30/10/2022 20:00

To be honest me and FH are getting married next year so I have felt quite stressed as well as work so maybe I just haven't ovulated and just felt like I did. Just too nervous to test, I was going to wait until at least Tuesday morning for the first test.

What we're all your symptoms?

I had irregular cycles at the start of ttc and had a couple of months that seemed like I'd ovulated (ewcm and cramps) but evidently I hadn't until much later. It can be a real nightmare! I'd recommend temping if you want some extra reassurance regarding ovulation but it's not good for forward planning, more just confirming its happened after the fact.

To be honest the 2 tests that showed positive at 10dpo I had no symptoms with, besides implantation bleeding. Before my current pregnancy, I'd gone back to having some really irregular cycles though and these all included spotting mid cycles and up to a week before af so this wasn't a give away this time. I did have one pregnancy where I didn't test until after my period was a few days late and I didn't have any symptoms with that one either - my symptoms like nausea don't seem to start until about week 6 of pregnancy

CloudyVenus · 30/10/2022 21:04

@Rosegold3112 I have not had any spotting at the moment just clear CM.

Did you have no symptoms other than IB until 6 weeks? I'm guessing I'd only be about 4 weeks if I was but then again my cycles can be a bit erratic.

My stomach issues has surprised me as my diet hasn't really changed, that's been the main thing for me.

@CloudyVenus yes I'd say I was pretty symptom free for at least a week or two after finding out. Maybe a little more tired than usual. If I remember rightly my boobs were the first symptom, they got sore and a little swollen then the nausea and food aversions hit me like a truck, but its different for everyone 🤷 oh and also I normally get cramps as af is coming and I was cramp free around when af was due, but then I got cramps about week 5/6 like af was gonna come

PinkButtercups · 30/10/2022 21:35

I had no symptoms with either of my pregnancies x

CloudyVenus · 30/10/2022 21:44

Will the digital Clear Blue pick it up if so if I use it on Tuesday? AF will be 6 days late by then and I've never used one before. I usually use FRER's and a couple of the dye clear blues never a digital, got them this time as fed up of squinting for no reason and it will hopefully give me a clear answer.

I keep feeling a little twitchy in my uterus/bladder area but as I'm prone to UTI's it was initially my first thought and it feels more settled now than earlier in the week. It doesn't hurt to pee, but usually it doesn't even when I have one so no clue.

CloudyVenus · 30/10/2022 21:48

It also doesn't help I've never been pg before so I have actually no idea what it feels like. I usually get sore breats etc when my AF is on its way anyway and I do occasionally get heartburn and sickness etc (acid reflux) so other than what I've been reading online I am pretty clueless.

CloudyVenus · 30/10/2022 21:53

I have even noticed brown nipples and blue veins but brown nipples I get with impending AF anyway which is strange! But they just aren't sore like when AF is on her way.

Rosegold3112 · 31/10/2022 04:36

A digital should definitely pick it up by then! Twitching could be a symptom - I did feel a pinching sensation early on. I may not have noticed it if I didn't already know I was pregnant so you never know! It's such a minefield when a lot of the symptoms of af overlap with pregnancy symptoms too. I really hope you get the result you want on Tues! X

CloudyVenus · 31/10/2022 15:05

No AF still as of yet. Been feeling some pressure on my lower stomach today though so I'm guessing she may be on her way.

If still not here by tomorrow I'll take a test and if negative I'll wait another week or so.

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 31/10/2022 15:19

My first was IVF so tested during TWW but my second I tested 3 days after AF was due as I didn't think I'd actually be pregnant and just thought I was late which was really inconvenient that month as I had a scan booked for a certain day of my cycle so needed AF to start and thought sods law if I POAS it would start! I got a clear positive on a cheapie, a FRER and a digital.

CloudyVenus · 31/10/2022 17:55

@TheArtfulScreamer1 aww, that must of been a lovely surprise for you! Still nothing yet here. Wondering if I just ovulated late or not at all or something as that wouldn't surprise me.

OP posts:
Glera · 31/10/2022 18:07

My digital didn't pick it up but a cheap one did. I didn't test positive until 10days after missed period. I assume very late ovulation in my case.

Mumtobe2023 · 31/10/2022 19:23

I tested stark negative at 9dpo, and then got a very very very faint line at 10dpo.
I'm now 28 weeks. Please keep us updated op! I love threads like these ❤️😍

CSR721 · 31/10/2022 19:25

I used to use cheapies from amazon and start testing from about 9dpo!

CloudyVenus · 31/10/2022 20:00

@Mumtobe2023 I will update here tomorrow, but I fully expect it to be negative if I'm honest however I will still update regardless of the outcome as I'm lacking any PMS or PG symptoms so I'm thinking I'm just late as usual 😂

OP posts:
CloudyVenus · 31/10/2022 20:05

Like 99.9% that it will be negative as my body always messes about for no reason, hahaha.

2 days after missed period. All I had was one tiny bleed on the day it was due, barely enough to merit a pad. Usually they’re super heavy for me and always on time so I just had a feeling. I waited a couple more days but still nothing else happened, tested then and it was a positive. Can only assume the slight bleed was implantation bleeding.
