Hi All,
Im 4+5, first pregnancy…. So very early days and no symptoms yet!!
I was previously taking a B50 vitamin complex (50mg B6, 50ug B12, 400ug folic acid + other Bs), 1000mg Vitamin C, 10ug Vitamin D and 80mg Magnesium. The first two to lengthen my luteal phase.
Ive read in a couple of places to continue the B12/B6 to help prevent nausea and miscarriage. But the does I’m taking is obviously much more than a pregnancy vitamin. So now I’m worried - should I continue with the “high dose B complex” and VitC/D and magnesium in case the B50 helps this be a stick pregnancy or should I switch to a “safer” pregnancy Vit?
Anyone had any advice on this?
Anyone taken B50 for short luteal and then continued / not continued?
thanks for bearing with me!

Hi OP, congratulations on the pregnancy! I'm afraid I can't help with your question but can I be cheeky and ask if the vitamins did help with your luteal phase? Presumably they did seeing as you're now pregnant! I'm struggling with a short LP - ten days if I'm lucky - and I've been considering changing supplements to see if that helps. I'm taking Conceive Plus Fertility Support at the moment.

Hopefully this gives your thread a little bump too 😊

Thanks @BirdIsland !!

I had been taking B6 on its own (plus Pregnacare and CoQ10) for 4 months - no difference to my luteal phase which was always 10 days. However, this month (#5 of TTC) I started on the VitC 1000mg and the B50 Solgar Complex and I’m pregnant! So I can only think it’s fluke…. Or it was lengthened. I had a BFN on 10dpo and BFP on 12DPO. I would say 100% give it a go…. What have you got to lose?! Good luck!

Thanks @Hopefulhoney6 I think I'll give them a try! I was taking B vits before I conceived my DD (for fatigue, nothing to I do with TTC) so maybe they did help then too!

It might still be due to the previous vitamins you took for 4 months as it takes time to bring levels to normal, if you had any deficiencies.

I’d switch to something like pregnacare max, as they have lots more stuff you need in pregnancy, plus fish oil for baby’s brain development.

this is what I take, plus a choline supplement, as there are studies this is good for baby’s brain too. And mummy’s health too (it has helped Immensely with pregnancy brain fog). (I also take a baby aspiring but that is for other/medical reasons as directed by my Dr.)

you can also take it from food if you consume lots of eggs etc, you can research how much you’d need for a good intake.

Hi @Hopefulhoney6 if it's any help I'm 12+1 and take almost the same vits as you - high strength B complex (incl folic acid), vit D, magnesium+zinc and vit C along with iron (I'm mostly vegan) and vegan omegas. Saw baby today and it was moving around and developing fine 😊

I was also taking most of them for a short LP. Not sure if they helped in the end (it took a long time to fall pregnant) but 9-10 days was about my average

I take 50mg of vit B6 on top of a pregnancy or preconception multivitamin. I was trying to sustain progesterone levels before I had a MMC so checked the maximum doses.

I am taking:
Conceive Plus multivitamin or Seven Seas prenatal vitamin during pregnancy
Myo-inositol 2000mg (for insulin resistance & inflammation / PCOS)
Alpha-lipoic acid 200mg (helps implantation)
CoQ10 200mg (can help with recurrent miscarriage - would switch this to Ubiquinol in future)
NAC 600mg - during 2ww & beyond can help with unexplained pregnancy loss + reduces birth defects
Vit E 200iu
DHA 400iu (just added)
VitC (slow release 500mg - I may increase or double this)
Zinc 25mg
Magnesium 250mg
vitB6 60mg

Much of the above is to promote progesterone, but I added the inositol, Alpha-lipoic acid, CoQ10 and NAC this cycle, which seem to have made a big positive difference in my luteal phase judging by BBT chart. My luteal phase is about 12 days, but had been as short of 8-10 in the past 6-12 months in 2-3 cycles.

Sorry, B6 50mg (not 60mg).

Hopefulhoney6 · 01/11/2022 10:40

Thanks @somethingluscious …. So if you get pregnant would you continue to take it all?! Good luck !!

Thanks everyone!! Some food for thought on whether I just switch to a multivitamin or stick to the B50 which I think boosts progesterone. :)

Hi @Hopefulhoney6 with did you decide to do on this? I’m in the same position have been taking B50 complex since before BFP and now have been continuing until 9 weeks. Not sure whether time to switch to a multivitamin or continue until 12 weeks!

Hopefulhoney6 · 04/01/2023 21:54

Hi @molliemumxx …. I stopped the B50 and switched just to my prenatal. However, I then had a MMC which was very sad…. So I think next time I will continue taking until 12 weeks. I’ve see a few people say their doctor said it’s fine and nothing saying absolutely don’t do it! Best of luck with the pregnancy
