Ovarian Cyst in Pregnancy

Hey, I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd.
On my first scan they spotted a cyst on my left ovary and told me it’s totally normal and super common and not to worry. Went to my 20 weeks scan and it’s grown (by 5cm!!!) - I’m absolutely terrified and awaiting for a radiologist to examine the images and contact me…. Has anyone else had anything like this?

Not the exact same circumstances and my situation might not be relevant to yours but I had a large dermoid cyst removed in pregnancy (10 weeks), it wasn't an ovarian cyst but it had caught up my left ovary and the ovary was removed. My cyst was much larger than yours and was starting to take up too much space so there wasn't much option but to operate, it may well be very different for you! They said the pregnancy hormones were making it grow faster than normal. If it ends up being similar feel free to pm me!

This was over 20 years ago and I am sure options are much better now. Successful pregnancy (now adult DD!) and subsequent pregnancies problem free. I know it's concerning but hopefully everything will be fine!

Thank you so much! Your response has curbed my worrying, the Dr said he thinks it’s a Dermoid Cyst but couldn’t tell for sure so referred it and I just went into panic mode. The midwife did say that the hormones can make things grow quicker.

I had a ovarian cyst found during pregnancy about 20 weeks as well, I was told it was probably due to pregnancy, it was about 4cm.

Nothing was done during pregnancy because it wasn't causing me any problems but after giving birth and I had other problems needing investigating and long story short I had it removed in July and it was caused by endometriosis.

I had a cyst whilst pregnant. I can't remember how big it was though now as few year ago but, no issues during pregnancy of after for me.

I had a 10cm dermoid cyst on an ovary which twisted and caused agonising pain at 14 weeks pregnant. Had it surgically removed (no choice). Me and the baby were fine but recovery from the op took quite a few weeks to feel better. Good luck.
