Sensations at 15 weeks - baby moving?

I’m pregnant with our first child and am currently 15 weeks pregnant…

From about 14 weeks I’ve been having this almost quivery, ripple like tightening sensation quite low down.

It doesn’t hurt or anything (though I do occasionally get other pains they’re never so bad that I’m worried I think it’s just when I move awkwardly or use a muscle I’m not used to using when sitting or standing or twisting) it’s just an odd sensation that I can’t really describe properly. Trembling and fluttering might also be used to describe? But not sure, it sort of feels like my uterus being a bit tight but not cramps at all, it’s a sensation not painful.

Could this be baby moving? Or is it just super mild cramping? The internet says movement is usually felt from 16 weeks or even later for 1st time mums but I’ve definitely had these since 14 weeks. I notice them most when I’m sitting laying down (which is often because I’m very tired).

Thanks in advance everyone :)

The best thing my HV ever told me - no one has written a book about you and your baby. It does sounds like it could be early movements. I used to say it was like lemonade in my veins.

Good luck with your pregnancy!

Like the above poster says, we're all different :) I'm told that second or third (etc) time mums feel movements earlier because they know what to look for/they're more familiar with what it feels like. Whether that's true or not I have no clue!

I'm 24 weeks pregnant with my first and I felt the first movements around 16 or 17 weeks. They definitely felt fluttering. Or very light bubbles popping under my belly. I felt the very first movement when I was sat in church and l just seemed to 'know' that it was the baby moving. I have IBS and have extensive experience of trapped wind lol, and it definitely wasn't that!

Nowadays it's less 'popping bubbles' and more 'huge boots to the bladder right when I'm about to go to sleep'.

Have a lovely pregnancy :)

It could be, I think the uterus moves up in early 2nd trimester so you'll feel some ligaments stretching, bubbles will be smooth muscle. I certainly felt my second moving from 15 weeks, I think it depends on their location. I'm sure he was pushing his legs across the front of my uterus for days and days then He moved and I felt nothing for about 2 weeks, then the crazy washing machine movements started, but everyone is different as a friend didn't feel
Anything well into 20 plus weeks
Enjoy!

Could well be! I’m 15 weeks and over the last week I’ve had quite a few moments of thinking I can feel him moving. For me it’s like little bubbles popping. I can’t quite remember when I felt my first move, maybe around 17 weeks, I know I was feeling really definite movements by the time I had my 20 week scan. I’m so impatient to feel them again!

Not sure it sounds like it but I know it's hard to describe. I felt my first at 16 weeks. I just knew right away it felt like little bubbles popping in my tummy. Within 1-2 more weeks I felt a little kick it's such a great moment and by 20wks cld actually see my tummy move. I'm quite slim I've heard that sometimes you feel it sooner if your slim.

Second time around I felt it at 11/12 wks and cld see my tummy moving at 14/15wks. If it hadn't happened to me I'd probably be thinking someone was exaggerating.

It probably is baby moving. I felt my 1st move at 12 weeks! Was sat watching TV and I almost jumped out of my skin 😂

Cantseethewindows · 28/10/2022 19:46

I felt my first around 18 weeks and my second a fair bit earlier, maybe 14 weeks? It's definitely possible!

Thank you everyone for responding! The sensations have calmed down/essentially stopped; but I called my maternity centre and they reassured me that because it’s so early to be feeling things at all, because baby is so small, feelings will come and go. We shall wait and see when they return if they are more identifiable! Thanks again everyone it’s lovely to read all of your personal experiences of pregnancy!

Congratulations op that sounds amazing to have it so early. Im 22 weeks with my first and felt sensations for the first time at 16 weeks i first thought it was the elastic of my underwear snapping 😂. Movements are sporadic until about 24-26 weeks so its normal to feel some days more than others and thats what i am noticing.

PewterHeart · 31/10/2022 19:10

Oh that’s great to hear @AutumnScream! I have a friend across the pond who’s only a few weeks ahead of me but she’s already deep into every day movements etc so I was worried I should be feeling them constantly from as soon as they start. It’s reassuring to know from midwives and from yourself that sporadic movement at the start is totally normal. Sending my love to you and your little bundle!!! I hope the rest of your pregnancy is glorious 🥰
