Risks of pre-term after C section

I had an EMCS with my DS a little over 18 months ago and I'm now pregnant again. My midwife flagged that I'm at increased risk of preterm labour after having a C section in the second stage of labour, so I've been referred to the relevant clinic. Is early labour after a previous C section a common experience? I'm wondering if it's a big risk or more of a "risk increases from 1% to 2%" situation 🤔

No experience myself but saw this article

Hi - I was also recently referred to pre-term birth clinic due to late stage c-section in my previous pregnancy.

They explained it’s still very new research, further research they are undertaking indicates it’s not as high as quoted in the tommys article above.
They don’t know why there is a link, detailed data around c-sections and scarring hasn’t historically been collected and they are trying to collect more to understand what’s going on.

I had scans to check the internal c-section scar and how close it was to my cervix and then scans every two weeks from 16 ish weeks to 23 ish weeks to check my cervix was still short and closed (ie no signs of going into labour!).

They explained that if they are really concerned of pre-term birth there are a couple of options; cervix stitch and /or progesterone.

I was discharged from the clinic with no intervention at 23 (ish) weeks.

Emergency section first time here... Then elective second time.

There's almost exactly 2 years between my twos birthday. So I fell pregnant around 14 months after the first section.

They never discussed early labour then it was more to do with my scar and chances of it having issues during natural labour where I might possibly end up with another emergency section which was what made me opt for an elective section.

Had no early signs of being ready to go etc with second child.
