How do I test for pregnancy after miscarriage

I was ‘intimate’ on 13th , 14th, 16th and 23rd October. We wasn’t intimate prior 13th as I was having a miscarriage and was bleeding etc from the 1st. My cycle is usually regular between 28-32 days (average 29/30 days) I took an early pregnancy test today and that was negative but with the miscarriage and me being intimate only on the 4 dates above when would anyone suggest I would take a pregnancy test to be 100 percent sure I’m not pregnant? My breasts are so sore and have been for 2 weeks I don’t think my body knows what’s going on :(

im counting day 1 in cycle when I had my miscarriage so from 1st October x

I would test once or twice a week unless your period starts. your cycle can be off for a bit after a mc though. I had a mc in March, period in April but fell pregnant again end of April.

According to when my miscarriage happened on 1 st October im 29 days now in my cycle I would of thought it would be showing on a early pregnancy test by now? X

It took me three months after a miscarriage to conceive again. Which in hindsight is quick compared to some people, but at the same time I understand each month is hard.

If you don’t know when you ovulated then it’s all guesswork until you either get AF or a bfp. Ovulation can be delayed if hcg was still high in your system for 1-2 weeks after miscarrying. It can also be haywire after a mc. It’s good that you have a negative, at least that’s a baseline and you won’t be second guessing if it’s residue from the miscarriage or a new pregnancy. Plus it means hcg is low/out of your system so hopefully ovulation has occurred or will do.

well i took a pregnancy 13 days after my miscarriage and it was negative and was advised I could try to conceive again I did use the ovulation sticks and it said I was ovulating around the 13th /16th October (I used the clearblue 4 days ovulation tests) so I’m assuming it was then? I tested because the regular signs of ovulation like start of sore breasts etc. so I’m counting only when I’ve had sex this month which is the 13th 14th 16th and 23rd , would i be showing up pregnant now if I conceived either of those dates? X

Hey Sarah, I had an early MC on 11th Oct, I've been tracking ovulation and I ovulated the exact same day as last month when I was pregnant (day 17) so things stayed right on track which surprised me.

I got my faint positive last month on 9DPO. Judging by your dates you would usually have your BFP around this time - many say by 12DPO but there can be some variants so it's just waiting to see really over the next few days. Fingers crossed x

You are about 12dpo? It says online that implantation occurs 6-12dpo. I can’t really give any advice about bfp’s. You could wait a few days and see if AF appears.

@Blue2020 Yeah I’m 12 dpo today (28 days into cycle after miscarriage)
I’m so confused with all this haha I’m trying to skill up on ovulation etc.

the later date on 23rd October is that too late to fall pregnant if it’s after ovulation?

12 DPO if going off my ovulation date on the 16th October I would of expected an early test to show up now? Can there be some variants on this 6 -12 DPO I didn’t know that? x

I'm no expert by any means but at 12DPO many seem to have a faint positive but it's not over for you until AF comes so fingers crossed x

I did test this morning just on a regular boots pregnancy test and that was negative if I ovulated around the 16th I’d expect to be 12 dpo today , if no period turns up week later I’ll test again - stressful as I’ve had sex a few times since miscarriage so I’m like worried I need to know if I’m pregnant or not yet. Hard to wait. My breasts are so sore for 2 weeks that I can’t stand the pain on my breasts 😂 i have to laugh or I’ll cry x

It's so difficult as you don't want to get your hopes up but pregnancy symptoms are so similar to AF 😩 I totally get it!

I can obviously only speak for myself, but I didn't ovulate 'on time' after my miscarriage. I used an opk so know when I ovulated, and it was about three or four weeks after the miscarriage started (I didn't realise I was pregnant when miscarriage started so not exact on dates for when 'day 1' would be.) But ovulation ended up being around two weeks after my bleeding stopped. I did get pregnant that cycle though! Fingers crossed for you.

in between your miscarriage and new pregnancy when did you find out you was pregnant again? I tested for pregnancy and it says negative. I think mine would of come up by now?
13th October for a negative pregnancy test after my miscarriage, had sex on 13th, 14th ,16th and 23rd October (according to those ovulation sticks I may have ovulated around 15th/16th). It’s now 30th October It would been positive now? Still no sign of period from my early miscarriage on the 1st October 🤷🏻‍♀️ x

Apologies @SarahHewitt, I missed your response. I tested positive (with symptoms) about 10/11 dpo. Any update for you?

I MC in March then got pregnant in April, MC again in June (took almost 6w to show negative on HPTs) then conceived again in July.

If you know for sure you were back to testing negative again after your MC then I'd hold out as long as possible until testing for possible pregnancy again. When would your next AF be due, ordinarily? Add a few extra days into that and then test.

@RecordPlayer I did do a pregnancy test that said negative , I haven’t had a period over a month since the miscarriage I haven’t gone this long without a ‘period’ .
on ovulation tests there are multiple surges on the 16th 23rd October and now today 2nd of November . My breasts are sore and I’m feeling really fed up like I don’t know what’s going on with my body.. I’m not even sure why more body is showing multiple ovulation tests is it attempting to do it and then failing and trying again because of my miscarriage last month? I’m at a total loss

I had my early miscarriage 1st October and was showing up still ‘pregnant’ from remaining HCG untill the 13th October i then got a negative pregnancy test on that day on the 13th October so we have been attempting from that date onwards to try and conceive again. I did a pregnancy test for new pregnancy on 31st October that was negative. My AF is due now if im counting day 1 from my miscarriage. My AF is actually late now. My breasts have been sore since the 12th October and i have received ovulation surges 3 times on ovulation tests the 16th, 21st and now again today 2nd November! Is my body trying to ovulate and then when it doesn’t it attempting again?
No period as of yet and I’m at a total loss with my body and feeling down now x

@SarahHewitt it's definitely common for things to take a bit longer to get back to normal after a miscarriage. I wouldn't expect a period until at least 3-4 weeks after HCG is gone, as your body has to start again. If 13th October was the first negative test, I would think your body would only reset after that? But I don't think there's any such thing as 'normal' when it comes to hormones unfortunately! I would definitely keep trying - multiple LH surges definitely sounds like your body is trying to ovulate, so today's could be it! Fingers crossed for you!!

@RecordPlayer yeah I didn’t know this thank you. I have been counting day 1 from the bleeding from my miscarriage on 1st October, however the HCG only went out my system on 13th (I tested all the way up untill the 10th October still showed pregnant tried on 13th snd this said negative) so you’re right I think it’s reset from around the 13th October when I got a negative pregnancy test. I then ovulated according to ovulation tests I was ‘ovulating’ on the 16th/21st and now today 2nd November I think my body hasn’t ovulated yet but has been trying to do so do you think then that’s why I’m having the repeated ovulation surges? It’s come up peak ovulation today again, so we are going to be intimate today just incase this is 3rd time around to maybe actual ovulate. I’m so confused with everything of what is going on if I’m ovulating or not 🤷🏻‍♀️ 🥹 x

…So this happened today still smiley static face on clear blue ovulation and i took a Strip ovulation test and these are the results in photos . What do you guys think? Do you think my body attempting to ovulate for the 3rd time because the other ones failed due to my miscarriage

I'm not sure I've followed your history but it's pretty clear that you're ovulating at the moment.

If you're unsure if you're already pregnant perhaps get a blood test if waiting is too hard.

If you book two blood tests two days apart you'll be able to tell if the pregnancy hormone is going up or down.

My hormones were haywire after my miscarriages. It will settle back into a cycle but for now, if you're wanting to get pregnant I suggest you have sex over the next day or two.

Just an update - it seems that after having another Ovulation positive yesterday I have started off with a light red period on the same day that evening … even though the hcg is out my system could hormones still be at play 1 month after my miscarriage?- because how could I be ovulating and period on same day.
I’m just hoping this resets everything then I can conceive again :(
