Spotting 8/9 weeks

Hi. I am 9 weeks pregnant tomorrow and last night when I had a wee I noticed a bit of brownish ‘discharge’ should I say. Again this morning but only when I wiped after having a wee I have an early scan on Tuesday but seems like forever when I’m concerned there’s something wrong! Please help

Hello! Can't see your picture but I experienced this at 7 weeks, and again at 11 weeks (I'm now nearly 12) both scans have been absolutely fine.

Brown is old blood, so you may just have a bit of sensitivity inside somewhere.

If you have any cramping or feel like you need to call someone for reassurance then defo give your Midwife or EPU (Early Pregnancy Unit) a call 👍🏼

@H1994 picture attached! Sorry if it's TMI! It's honestly like barley noticeable if I didn't look, but because I have no pregnancy symptoms either I've just no positivity left :(

I’m 10 weeks and had brown spotting twice now. I was beside myself both times. My midwife said if it’s brown with no pain and doesn’t turn red it’s fine as it’s old blood and not to worry.

Is your early scan private or through your EPU?

@Northtosouth I have an early scan Tuesday which is still 5 days away, bleeding had got a little bit worse when I wipe but no cramping still

if it makes you feel any better mine was a lot more than your photo and it happened about 5-6 times in one day.
can you ring your EPU for some reassurance if you haven’t already? They might help to put your mind at ease a bit. I really feel for you, I know how scary it is x

@billyx20 I would update the EPU as the bleeding has gotten worse, bleeding can be common during early pregnancy! And symptoms will fluxuate along the way x

Oh sorry just seen it’s with the EPU, if you feel it’s gotten heavier could you call back with an update and try to see if you can get in sooner?

I’ve had all Sorts of bleeding in all my pregnancies. Brown, red, pink, light, heavy… sometimes it was ok and sometimes it wasn’t and I miscarried. I actually had more red period like bleeding with my healthy pregnancies than the ones I lost. There’s no way of knowing. I wouldn’t be alarmed by yours though. I think early scans are a waste of time unless you’re in pain. They’ll only show you what’s happening the minutes you’re scanned.

@Northtosouth it's a little bit worse when I am wiping now after the toilet a little bit brighter but still not in my underwear, still have no cramping xx

Hi! Thought id share my history with this!
I had brown discharge at 5 weeks, a bright red bleed at 9 weeks and then again at 11 weeks.. I had scans at all three stages, one with EPU and the other two private (i was terrified and EPU are so busy, like you it would have been a long wait) and everything was fine 🙂 like you, none of mine ever got through to my underwear or onto a pad and i didn’t have bleeding.
Im 14 weeks now and sometimes get a discoloured discharge but the midwife told me that unless im soaking a pad and cramping not to be too concerned but report any bleeds to them non the less.

@LauraA31 thank you so much this gives me hope! Yes it's not yet on a pad, but every-time I wipe it's quite visible blood and I'd say I was 9 weeks pregnant today! I'm thinking of ringing 111 to see if I can get in earlier if the bleeding persists! I've definitely no major cramping at the minute
