Thursday @i83 - we don't plan to find out the sex, just going for some reassurance

Zaalfruit · 24/11/2022 18:28

I think I might book a reassurance scan - I am in so much pain on my left and right side of my hips. I have a low uterus- so I feel like I am constantly having period pain .

Tmi info ; anyone else getting a lot discharge?

i83 · 24/11/2022 18:39

@CatMad22 that’s really cool!! I feel quite jealous, as we’re not going to find out the sex! Let us know how you get on on Tuesday.

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl mine is Thursday too! Let us know how you get on!!

@Zaalfruit sorry to hear that. I’ve had quite a lot of pain in the left side of my chest and ribs.
I’ve had some discharge everyday but not loads and loads. I think it’s normal to have quite a lot though?

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 24/11/2022 18:48

@Zaalfruit @i83 I've been getting lots of round ligament pains and I'd say a medium amount of discharge. Hip pain can be round ligament but worth calling midwives to run past them

YES! I feel like I'm getting quite a lot of discharge but colour/consistency wise it isn't out of the ordinary so it hasn't caused concern but I feel like I've peed myself some days... Also, I find I'm getting a lot of round ligament pain at the moment too and my tummy is quite tender if I lean against something like a desk when standing up or similar!

RugbyGirl1 · 24/11/2022 21:16

Those of you getting round ligament pain, where exactly do you feel it? I've googled but it's not really clear... I've been getting some pain for a few seconds at a time, on and off for a couple of hours or so, maybe two or three times a week and wondering if that could be it?

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 24/11/2022 21:55

@RugbyGirl1 started as twangy pain under hip bones, moved to middle low about 4cm under belly button. Ive had the biggest twangs when ive stood up suddenly from car or sofa. This photo shows how all the round ligaments sit pelvichealthct.files.wordpress.com/2020/07/round-ligament.jpg?w=368. But pains can also be pelvic ligaments so really anywhere... Have also had shooty rectal and cervix pains - the joy!

Zaalfruit · 24/11/2022 22:20

Ooh I completely forgot about round ligament pain .

literally Feel like this pregnancy is hurting more . 😂😂😂😂

The bean inside me - is also measuring small so I have to see a consultant. So annoying I’m hoping they just say it’s routine to see the consultant and that I still can have all my checkups at the birthing centre. ( the hospitals around here are so understaffed and everything takes ages . The staff are lovely but you can go in for an appointment at 9 but won’t be seen till 11 - the birthing centre is so easy - if you go in a 9 , you get seen at 9 )

raffika · 25/11/2022 13:49

Hello ladies. I just thought I’d check in after my spotting panic on Saturday night. There’s been nothing since and no pain except some ligament twinges. I’ve got a scan on Sunday (reassurance, not finding out the gender) which is well timed.

I know it’s still early days but has anyone thought about buying things for their baby? I’ve just been in Manchester for the markets and did a baby appointment at John Lewis, as we don’t have one anywhere near and probably won’t get another trip away. They gave me a voucher for 10% off £1000 spend or 15% off £1500, and it works on top of Black Friday deals. Tempted to order some of the big items, get them delivered to my Mums and can return up to 28th January if needed.

CatMad22 · 25/11/2022 13:59

@raffika It's great to hear you're feeling ok now. Those discounts sound great! The only things I've bought so far are a room thermometer, a pack of dummies and a comforter toy - hoping to start buying properly once we know the gender next week. I have started thinking about ordering pram/moses basket/breast pump etc though, Amazon also has some good deals on things like baby monitors and nappy bins.

i83 · 25/11/2022 15:04

@raffika it’s so good to hear that you’re feeling ok and have got a scan on Sunday for reassurance.

Those discounts sound great and it’s a really good time to buy, if you know what you want! I’d go for it if I were you!

Did you find the John Lewis appointment useful? Were there plenty of different brands to look at?

raffika · 25/11/2022 15:23

@i83 we found it really useful, and focussed on prams and car seats. We had an idea of what pram features we wanted (something which would manage light off road as we had dogs) and the assistant made several suggestions. We got to try them all - pushing, folding, checking how heavy etc. For car seats, I was dead set on a particular set up but actually changed my mind after the appointment. We went to the JL Trafford Centre but a local friend tells me I should have gone to JL Cheadle, as it’s bigger and better (just if anyone else is thinking of booking an appointment in that neck of the woods). I’d definitely recommend it, and the discount is an added bonus!

i83 · 25/11/2022 16:02

@raffika that’s really useful to know, thank you! We’ve got dogs too (and horses to go to look after!) so we’d need something that can off-road too! Ideally something that is light though too, as my back isn’t great.
I haven’t got a clue at the moment though, which brands or styles might be good for us!
Think we’ll try to get an appointment between Christmas and New Year and buy in the January sales!
It’s great that you’ll be all sorted with the big stuff after this weekend!

I'm really late joining in, sorry! But hi everyone. I'm due on the 14th of May, I've had my 12 week scan and everything was fine. A bit of a blurry view because I have a retroverted uterus. I can't wait until 20 weeks to find out what we're having so I have a private scan booked for next week! I found my first scan very clinical and not very exciting due to the lady doing it.. she didn't say congratulations or let us hear the heartbeat. She then proceeded to have a medical conversation with a colleague in front of us, reducing the time seeing baby even more. Has anyone else felt like TV/films glamorise scans as magical when a classic NHS one is just rubbish?! Obviously amazing to see the baby but still..

Aww I am due on the 13th May and so similar to you with the 12 week scan and a retroverted uterus! We have our private gender scan tomorrow morning and so excited!!

I’m 16 weeks tomorrow and midwife asked me if I have felt movement yet she reassured me it was normal I haven’t but I couldn’t help but think about it after the appointment! Anyway I saw a consultant the other day and expressed my concerns after the midwife asked me about movement and he was nice enough to get the scanner and show me baby was well which was so lovely to see ❤️

In terms of buying things I’ve bought a Snuzpod bedside cot, Moses basket and a cot and dresser I feel very organised at the moment! I’ve also just seen a brilliant Black Friday deal for MAM bottles on Amazon which I’m tempted by too! I’ve just been making the most of all these sales while it’s there 😂

CatMad22 · 25/11/2022 17:31

@Flowersflowers121 what did your husband say about the scan?! X

CatMad22 · 25/11/2022 17:34

@Laura993 Yay! Almost date twins. It'll be exciting to hear what you're having after tomorrow - do you feel like it's a girl or boy? So hard to tell early on and there are so many old wives tales haha. I feel like I might be having a girl just because of a few random thoughts that have popped into my head but some of my symptoms/lack of symptoms apparently point towards a boy.. who knows 🤣

I think I'll join you on making the most of sales once I know the sex, although the things you mention suit both a boy and girl so maybe I need to hurry up!

Flowersflowers121 · 25/11/2022 17:36

@CatMad22 he said to just wait for our 21 week scan on 13th Dec :( boo hoo hahaha

We’ve ordered a pram!! Got it in the Black Friday sales at Fenwick - very excited! Feels a bit premature as I’m only 15 weeks but got £300 off so couldn’t resist!

CatMad22 · 25/11/2022 19:22

@i83 thank you! I'll definitely come on and update, hopefully over the coming weeks we can all share scan updates/what we've bought!

TheBeesKnee · 25/11/2022 21:19

Ooh what did you get?

The Nuna Mixx Next! A couple of friends have it and have raved about it so with it being such a bargain, why not?!

raffika · 25/11/2022 21:26

@CatMad22 @i83 thanks for your thoughts, just done my John Lewis order - pram (Bugaboo Fox), car seats for both cars and a few other things. Feels massively premature but the discount took the pram from RRP £1215 to £663.43. Everything is getting delivered to my Mum’s, as she has a superstition that the pram can’t be in the house before the baby is here!

Another question. Has anyone started buying maternity clothes? I feel huge but I don’t have a proper bump and mostly look like I’ve eaten a few extra puddings, so I’ve been managing with my pre-pregnancy clothes and a pair of jeggings one size up. However, I’m looking ahead and struggling to find anything I like without spending loads (except Primark PJs, which are lovely!) Where is everyone else shopping?
