Mild Cramping at 28 weeks....What is considered normal?

Woke up this morning feeling fine, but around 20 mins after waking I noticed some period like cramps. I've been to the toilet a few times today as I've been assuming it's just a bad belly as I didn't eat the best yesterday! And it may well just be this!

It feels like mild period cramps which come and go. I haven't timed it or anything. It's not stopping me from doing anything, still getting on with my day but it's noticeable that they are there at times and then I feel ok. It is lower down in my belly. I also have a bit of lower back pain but this is normal to me as my back has been in bits this pregnancy. I am 28 weeks tomorrow. He's wiggling about just fine like normal. No odd discharge or anything. This is my third baby but my youngest is 7 so can't really remember too much!

I don't want to make a fuss at all by calling the midwife and end up wasting time for nothing. Has anyone else had anything like this? I've experienced aches and pains this pregnancy and it's nothing like ligament pain or anything. Anything advice welcomed! 😊

Sound like braxton hicks! I have been having them since 20 weeks and have been checked for them but all normal. As long as they don't get worse and can be eased with a warm bath/paracetemol they are nothing to worry about. Baths help me immensely! Over exercising, sex and dehydration make them come more.

If you are worried though do contact your mw xx

See I have Braxton hicks quite frequently too and I don't think it's those. They never usually are accompanied with pain at all. I get tightenings and they pass pretty quickly. I have BH usually a couple of times a day for the past month or so. It's been on and off all day now. It eased up for a couple of hours but has returned now. I have been super busy all day though so now going to have a nice bath and dinner and fingers crossed I wake up feeling better in the morning 😊

I had this exact thing yesterday! I’m 28 weeks on Friday. I was going to call the MW today if I still had the discomfort but it completely eased off after some paracetamol and a sleep. I wonder if it’s because I overdid it the day before or something. Fingers crossed you’re feeling better soon 😊

I'd give the midwife a call just to put your mind at rest. They may want you to go for a check

I’d been having this and it was a UTI but without the usual UTI symptoms

Coming on to say for me it was the only UTI symptoms I had (usually I know straight away but not this time). See your midwife.

Thank you everyone!

I am hoping that I will wake up in the morning and that will be it. I still have lower back pain and on and off cramping but it's still very mild but enough to notice when it's there.

I have heard UTIs can have this effect... I have my 28 week midwife appt on Monday and they will be checking for UTIs then so I think I will just wait it out if the pain fades overnight! If not I may well give them a call tomo depending on how I'm feeling.

my UTI wasn’t picked up at the midwife check as she just dips a stick and gets rid of the sample, I had to send a separate one off to via the gp, and the results took a week. I was also getting hot flushes which I thought was just pregnancy but seems like they were related. I wouldn’t wait, I was able to speak to a nurse over the phone and drop a sample in on the same day, really easy.

Well I have woken up today feeling better... i felt terrible last night and dropped off to sleep so early which is unlike me. I still have some mild back pain and I felt a little rough when I woke up this morning but nothing compared to yesterday! I'm baffled by what it could have been to be honest. I think I will speak to the midwife Monday about it. I hate that there is so long between appts because it isn't my first baby.
