Anyone know any tips to help sciatica currently 25 weeks pregnant and had this for 1 week. Done everything the midwife has recommended but not helping. Any advice on what helped you please let me know as it's so painful now and affecting me.

Many trusts allow self-referral for physiotherapy now. As you are pregnant, you should be seen within 2 weeks. I have found it helpful. Private is costly, but usually more hands on.

I had sciatica, surgery and ongoing issues before I was pregnant. The main thing that helped/helps me was lying face down (easier said than done, especially when pregnant), lumbar support (back rolls), chairs with arms or leaning on the table in front. Anything to take the pressure off where the nerve is being trapped.

Keep moving if you can. I had this for a couple of weeks where the baby was trapping a nerve. It did ease. I also did some gentle stretches (yoga type things) which helped a bit.

I've treated mine with a warm bath, a heat pad from Boots (said only for back and shoulders but I used it on my bum where the pain was!) and these exercises:

Also got a physio referral through midwife for 8th November.

Hope this helps, it's really horrible!

I'm currently 28 weeks and experiencing sciatic nerve pain. The best thing to do is massage the opposite leg (usually sciatica is on the right leg) so massage your left leg/glutes. If you massage the leg with pain then you'll cause yourself more pain because the nerves on that side are already inflamed. Type "dr berg sciatica" on youtube to get a better idea on how to perform the massage. I've heard the pain gets better after baby comes out.
