Hi i am 10 1/2 weeks pregnant this started at 9 weeks, it first started if I laid on a hard surface like the floor I would get such sharp lower back pain that I couldn't move or sit up, I had the same back pain yesterday as well it usually only lasts till I fall asleep I wake up completely fine it usually only comes on in the evenings, today it started by shooting pains in my lower back that would shoot to My right hip when I put pressure on My right leg but I felt fine when I tip toed around, I tip toed into bed felt fine and that sharp lower back pain reared its ugly head, If I lay on my back it's OK but if I try to turn over or change positions the sharp unbearable pain comes back I couldn't even get up to go to the toilet when I finally managed to stand up again I got the shooting pains when I put pressure on My right leg this is my first pregnancy I don't whats normal and what isn't normal so wondering if someone can help me out and tell me if they've had this before?

Sounds like sciatica, speak to your midwife to refer to physio or go see an osteopath or suitable masseuse. Keep your knees together getting in and out of bed and the car, avoid pushing a trolley or hoovering until you get it sorted. Try ice on it for a few mins.

@Garman that came up when I googled it but isn't that something that comes later in pregnancy? I'm only 10 1/2 weeks?

You might have been on the verge of getting sciatica before you were pregnant and the relaxin from the pregnancy has just tipped you over the edge. Def get some PT or massage, both can help a lot

You can get sciatica any time it’s not just a pregnancy thing.
