fine- unless it is older than 5 yrs- the manufacturers say they should be replaced after 5 yrs as plastic isnt so strong.

Fine

Out of interest, does anyone independent say that they have to be replaced after 5 years? Which, Rospa etc etc

I've not heard of the 5 year thing before and my baby car seat will be 5 years when baby due, do I need to replace then?? I have used for 2 babies but been well looked after, not left in car etc...

yeah I used a car seat that was second hand from a friend and then passed it on to someone else. This gotta be brand new thing is a bit of a scam. If there is nothing wrong with it then whats the harm.

The thing about car seats is there have been massive improvements in safety in recent years so I think I would get a new one after a reasonable length of time. But wouldn't say no to a reebie second-hand from a trusted friend!
