How do you work your due date after a miscarriage?

Good evening. Just abit of help needed here , I had a miscarriage on the 27th august and caught on my next pregnancy very quick. How do you figure out how many weeks you are from a miscarriage? I don't know when to book a midwife appointment or nothing.

I had to have an early scan to date the pregnancy. They roughly used my miscarriage date in lieu of a date of last period until the scan. The due date changed a couple of times (just by a week or so) between the first scan and the 12 week scan. Good luck, hope it all goes well 🤞🏻

I used the date of my miscarriage for my daughter, the day was out by a couple of days which was moved at my 12 week scan.

Congratulations and sorry for your previous loss. I was already tracking my ovulation so used that. If it helps to get a rough idea, I ovulated roughly 2 weeks after I miscarried so my miscarriage was essentially considered my date of last period. But my cycle is very regular and my loss was early (just before 7 weeks)… the best way to do it is phone your EPU and see if they will do an early dating scan (or failing that go for a private scan).

All the best for this pregnancy.

Hi ladies,
Just wondering if anyone can advise when I would start tracking period/ovulation dates after a miscarriage.
I found out on 23rd August that the baby’s heartbeat had stopped and had medication on 25th August to pass it. I bleed lightly for approx 2.5 weeks getting heavier towards the 5th September when it did finally pass. Would I use the date the medication was taken or the passing date of 5th Sept to work out future periods/ovulation? x

So sorry for your loss ♥️

I had a mmc in May and took medical management for it. I actually ovulated quite late after that, if you counted the miscarriage as day one of period, I didn’t ovulate until day 23, so using that as the first day of my period would have made me quite behind in dating (I feel pregnant that first cycle without a period and am currently 21 weeks 🤞🏼).

If you know when you ovulated I would roughly date yourself 2 weeks before that as the start of your pregnancy, however like another poster said an early dating scan is probably the most reassuring way. They since pushed me forward 5 days at my 12 week scan so it’s definitely not an exact science!
