Hi can anyone give any advice? I had a miscarriage at 5/6 weeks on 1st October the miscarriage was natural and didn’t require any medical intervention the bleeding stopped about 5 days. within a couple weeks my pregnancy test was negative so was good to start trying if I wished again. I used the purple clearblue 4 day detection ovulation kit , according to this I tested on the13th it had a ⭕️ result which indicated not ovulating yet, tried on 14th it had a flashing smiley face which indicated high fertility. During those times I had regular intercourse. On the 15th and 16th constant smiley face which indicated ovulating, on the 18th it was ⭕️ result , just for curiosity today 21st the clear blue indicates flashing smiley face which is high fertility …has anyone had this in the same cycle?? What does this mean if anyone can give more some insight please x

(It appears like it’s starting all over again like I’m ovulating again which I don’t know is possible so I’m confused as I didn’t expect to see another flashing face after appearing to have already ovulated after getting the solid smiley face after flashing smiley then getting a negative back then within a couple days back to flashing smiley face 🤔 )

Ovulation sticks only show your body is trying to ovulate not that you actually have, it's possible for your body to try a second time in a cycle if you didn't ovulate the first time.

I was worried I wasn't ovulating so I started BBT temping to check I was actually ovulating, might be worth looking into?

@justanotherlaura thank you. Yeah it’s just weird though that mine seemed to work I went from flashing smiley face to then solid smiley face pretty much how it says in the instructions is how my tests reflected but it’s thrown me that now I’m like in that ovulation stage again - I don’t know what made me re check I guess I wanted to be sure so now it’s completely thrown me maybe my hormones are all over the place from the miscarriage 3 weeks ago? But I’ve heard of women getting pregnant within that cycle again and GP said I could start trying as soon as I got a negative pregnancy test and the bleeding stopped

what is BBT? How do I do this X

It's where you take your temperature every morning when you wake up and 3 days of higher temperatures shows you ovulated. It doesn't tell you you ovulated until after the fact so you still have to use ovulation sticks but I found it really reassuring to know I had ovulated. www.verywellfamily.com/ovulation-on-body-basal-temperature-chart-1960284

@justanotherlaura thank you I will check the link out.
i also called my early pregnancy unit that dealt with my miscarriage and I asked them the question about my possibility of ‘twice ovulation’ coming up on clearblue ovulation sticks and they said it could be down to hormones …but I didn’t know if that would affected to show up on ovulation tests compared to for example pregnancy test , they seemed to not know how to answer it exactly

It's definitely possible that post miscarriage your ovulation will be delayed and your body will take a few runs at it. Is the HCG from the previous pregnancy completely out your system? The other thing to keep in mind is that LH increases just before your period, so it's usually not a good plan to keep testing LH as it can falsely look like ovulation when it's a period about to arrive (the same reason they should never be used as a proxy pregnancy test)

SarahHewitt · 21/10/2022 21:43

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I’ve been having intercourse since the 13th Oct, I waited 2 weeks post miscarriage for my hormones to deplete (which did through the blood tests they dropped rapidly my hcg) and then when they dropped enough I was advised to test for pregnancy i received a negative pregnancy test on 13th Oct, the bleeding stopped the week before but with advice to wait and get a negative pregnancy test before trying to conceive again. On the 14th Oct I had my ‘ovulation’ according to the ovulation test but today on 21st Oct it’s showing ovulation again so that’s 1 week after… so do you think there is a possibility it was delayed because of the miscarriage and that I didn’t ovulate last week? Or could I have ovulated twice in 1 week with it showing twice my ovulation?

i didn’t know that LH increases just before your period, so and it can falsely look like ovulation when it's a period about to arrive, if I was already pregnant (1 week pregnant a most) would it show as ‘ovulating’ on a ovulation stick falsely? x

appreciate you answering its give more more insight to what it could be

To clarify @SarahHewitt , you cannot ovulate twice in one cycle. LH shows your body is trying to ovulate so two peaks would be two attempts not two ovulations. Also, just to check you are aware that women tend to ovulate 24-48 hours after peak LH.

LH tests will sometimes come up positive if someone is pregnant, but only if they are pregnant enough that they would test positive on a classic pregnancy test too. If you ovulated around 14th and conceived then you wouldn't be pregnant long enough to test positive on an HCG or LH test at the moment, so it's unlikely to be that.

Basically either your period will arrive in the next 10 days (if you ovulated around 14th) or not for 2 weeks plus (if you're ovulating now). (Or not at all if you conceive). Unfortunately there is no way to tell, you kind of just need to wait it out.

Your cycles should go back to normal within 3mo after miscarriage.

Wishing you all the best with trying.
