3 Days Late -Negative Test

My partner and I have been trying to conceive for 18 months.

I have regular cycles, 28-31 days apart. There was 1 time my cycle came on day 37, last year. Other than that it’s been 28-31 days.

I am currently on day 34 and I haven’t had a cycle yet, I know not to get too excited but now, but I took a test. It’s negative. Is there still a chance I could be pregnant?

We do track my ovulation and try inside, outside, all around the darn window of ovulation but nothing. I have so many emotions of anger, frustration, sadness, guilt.

I have the same cycles as you. I was able to take a test on cycle day 29 and it picked up positive so I’d say you’re good to go. I used a cheap one first and then took a digital clear blue the same day. Both gave positive results. Good luck

You said you track ovulation, so how many days past ovulation are you?

Today marks 21 days from my ovulation

Thanks so much. I really appreciate that!! I was using a First Response test, I tested at lunch today and it was negative. But I’m hoping it was too soon

Have you tested using your first pee of the day? I believe that’s most reliable

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say you’re probably missing your peak each cycle. I got my first positive test at 8DPO (admittedly that is very early) but it’s uncommon to get false negatives after 14DPO. First response tests are over 99.9% accurate from the day of your missed period (or 14DPO specifically) so it seems unlikely that you’re actually pregnant if you’re testing negative and are truly 21DPO.

However, if you’re only using OPKs to track ovulation you’re probably not as far as you think. OPKs do not confirm that you ovulate or when and just indicate a rise in hormones. FYI. some people get two surges of these hormones in a given cycle and only ovulate during the later surge. I highly recommend that you start tracking bbt (I’ve found Fertility Friend is the best app for this). Bbt is the only way to confirm ovulation (and when is the cycle you ovulate) at home with a high degree of accuracy.

I suspect you’re late for your period because you’ve ovulated later than you think.

Wishing you lots of success! 💖
