What to pack for the ‘car spare hospital bag?’

I am aware this is the umpteenth time this thread has been brought up but I’m also stressing about what to put in the ‘spare bag’ that’s kept in the car that everyone mentions!

I will be on my own, don’t have a partner or birthing partner so it will be a family member/ friend that will bring the spare bag if needed. So I want to make sure I have everything in there as they won’t be able to go through my belongings and bring the extras I may need.

So far I have
1 x towel
1 x leggings
1 x joggers
1 x T-shirt
1 x long sleeve top
1 x nightie
4 x pants
1 x packet of maternity pants
1 x nursing bra

I think I’m going to add nappies, formula (although planning to breastfeed), some vests- although I don’t know if I need short or long sleeved or what size! and sleepsuits.

Any advice hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Extra snacks were always handy

Bottle of water (midwives were too busy to get me any post birth, and I didn’t like leaving baby if I could avoid it)

Regarding sleeves - all Maternity units are like an oven I found, so short sleeves and maybe a zip up hoodie in case you find yourself cold.

Ah, the sleeves were about baby clothes, just realised. Yes, I’m doing short sleeved vests again this time around in hospital.

Extra PJ's for you.
Extra snacks and stuff you'd normally enjoy with a cup of tea/ coffee
A hand held battery powered fan

Short sleeve or sleeveless vests as they’ll be wearing a long sleeved baby grow on top.

I’d just get one pack of newborn size and then the rest 0-3 months. If money is tight then go straight to 0-3 months, they grow out of newborn in a couple of weeks and it doesn’t matter if they’re a bit big.

Cotton baby hats, they get cold very easily at first.

Baby wipes

lip balm
chewing gum
tissues
