Hello, just wondering if any of you lovely people have advice for coping with 3rd trimester reflux and indigestion? Prior to getting pregnant I suffered with heartburn and reflux and was on peptac and Omeprazole which kept it under control no problem. However, since reaching the third trimester I’m absolutely crippled with reflux 😖 I’m on 20mg Omeprazole daily and have reduced my meals, opting for a few smaller ones throughout the day and during the day I’m okay but I’m waking almost every night with really severe pain and nausea, it really feels like i drank lighter fluid and then swallowed a match ☹️ It’s keeping me up for hours at a time.

the worst part is I’m emetophobic (fear of sickness/vomiting) so these episodes are really triggering and stressful. I just want to get through the night without the panic attacks and pain!

any advice appreciated x

As was a previous issue I assume you know what you can and can’t eat diet wise?

I had to cut out quite a lot. Tomato was the devil!

Yes I have a good idea of what normally triggers me, although I’m not sure if pregnancy has maybe brought new triggers - it feels like everything I eat triggers me 😅

I'm sorry I don't have much advice I'm in the same boat but really resonated with you as I also have emetophobia and trying to control panic attacks during bad acid reflux episodes is something I struggle with also 😟 only 28 weeks here but I'm expecting it to get worse as I go along so that makes me anxious. Wish I had some advice hopefully someone comes along with a bit more knowledge but just wanted to let you know I totally understand your situation and I can sympathize it is so so rubbish!

aww i’m so sorry you are in the same boat!! It’s horrible isn’t it, I’m up fighting with anxiety and panic almost every night, it’s making me not want to go to sleep! Recently it’s started happening in the afternoon after lunch as well, it’s miserable.

one thing I’d say is to speak to your doctor or midwife because they can prescribe cyclizine anti sickness medication. It’s not perfect but it does sometimes help me to control the nausea when its really bad!
