Hi there

booked for a section tomorrow, to be there at 11am as I have an afternoon slot.
im so nervous! About the spinal in particular I think but also about not getting taken (which I understand!)
I believe my hospital has an elective team and an on call team for emergencies so hopefully no big delays!
eeeeeek - the nerve are starting to get to me! Not sure what I want out of this post but needed somewhere to express my nerves!

just try to focus on the fact you’re meeting your baby tomorrow :) you will be fine, and it’s soooo worth it xx

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 19/10/2022 18:15

It is a bit nerve wracking, but everyone absolutely knows what they are doing and it really is quite quick in the end. The wait beforehand is something you could do without, but so worth it in the end.

Best of luck and enjoy meeting your baby tomorrow x

I was dreading the spinal when I had my section and honestly it was fine. Try not to worry, I know it's easy to say, but you get to meet your little one tomorrow and it will be amazing xxx

KitchenSupper · 19/10/2022 18:25

The spinal doesn’t hurt at all, don’t worry

MarmiRae · 19/10/2022 18:25

Good luck and congratulations!

CurlyNo2 · 19/10/2022 18:41

Good luck!

I ended up with a spinal when I had forceps as I was in such a tricky situation they didn’t know whether I was going to need a section of that didn’t work.

It was honestly fine. They take really good care before/during and after it. You’ll be too wrapped up in your gorgeous bundle of joy to even think about it all.

Bubbles021 · 19/10/2022 19:15

Awww not long until you meet your little one! I had.my elective section 10 weeks ago and I completely empathise with your nerves. Honestly, it was the most magical experience! The spinal is only one tiny step to meet your baby. One thing I wasn't prepared for was that the spinal did make me feel like I couldn't breathe a bit. I told the anaesthetist and he reassured me that they were monitoring my oxygen and it was fine. This feeling did pass though, I just wasn't expecting it!
My little girl was out within five minutes and my husband was able to watch it and we have the most amazing pictures of her coming into the world 😍
Best of luck and enjoy it 🥰

oooh how exciting! I am booked in for mine next week and feel the same, nervous! However, I’m more nervous about him coming early as really don’t want to get into an emergency C section situation. All the very best for tomorrow 😊

ecossegirl91 · 19/10/2022 20:03

Thanks everyone 🙏🏻 Just hope all goes smoothly! We don’t know the gender either so it’ll be a lovely surprise 💕💙

Good luck for today! May baby be perfectly sized and recovery quick and easy for you. ❤

WaltzingWaters · 20/10/2022 08:43

I had an emergency c section with my DS and the spinal was fine. The whole thing was actually lovely. Just take the recovery slowly and be gentle on yourself (as much as is possible with a new baby!).
good luck and enjoy your new little baby 🧡

ecossegirl91 · 20/10/2022 09:35

Thanks all! 👶🏼 Definitely feeling the nerves this morning! Even the cannula is starting to freak me out haha and I’m totally fine with blood tests / vaccines!

boostedonholiday · 20/10/2022 09:48

Totally normal to feel anxious - it's a big moment. But speaking from experience, it will be totally fine. The staff are amazing, tell them how you're feeling. The anaesthetist will be sitting right by your head and can give you a running commentary, they're among the most expert types of doctor there is and they'll reassure you. Congratulations!

Merryclaire · 20/10/2022 10:21

I had a CS 7 weeks ago. I was terrified in the buildup but it was all very quick, didn’t hurt a lot and when the baby came out was the most amazing moment ever.

Good luck. I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Brandybucks · 20/10/2022 10:34

I’m waiting alongside you! Due a c section today and also on the afternoon list! I’ve had one before although it was a crash section so a bit different but I don’t remember any part of it that I’m particularly worried about. Just trying to focus on meeting him 🥰 good luck!!

PinkButtercups · 20/10/2022 11:16

ecossegirl91 · 20/10/2022 11:35

Congratulations! Wishing you a swift recovery. I found the pain was bad for a couple of days then steeply improved.

Make sure you take your pain meds on schedule. Use the morphine when you need it - I eked mine out so I wouldn’t run out but shouldn’t have done as didn’t really need it after the first few days and still have some left.

Also, drink lots of water and eat plenty of fibre. If you get bad wind, drink peppermint tea.
