Who would I speak to about this?!

I believe I am 7+3. Last period started 28/8/22. 3rd pregnancy.

I could swear I'm feeling movement. Not just 'bubbles' either, actual movement. However, I am also 8 months post partem, so is it likely that I'm just feeling phantom kicks?! I don't for a second think it's possible for me to be feeling movement as early as 7 weeks!

I don't know whether I should speak to someone about an early scan to check my dates are correct, or whether I should just wait and see what's happens at my 12 week scan. Surely it's incredibly unlikely that I'm further along but the thought is just sitting there in the back of my mind and I'm worrying every time I feel what seems to be movement..

I'm still bfing as well, no idea if that can make a difference? My periods came back 3 months pp and have been fairly regular just with slightly varied cycle lengths.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly, but I have definitely heard of 'phantom movements', even among women who definitely aren't pregnant at the time. I hope you get some answers/reassurance soon OP.

Do you have your booking in appointment booked? Could you speak to your midwife?

Or call doctor? Mine has referred me to the EPU a few times.

Thanks for response @CatHatSat

I haven't got a booking in appointment (yet?). I've received a letter for 12 week scan and letter also said to get 8-10 week bloods done beforehand but no mention of booking in aptmt.

I did wonder if I should try the epu but wasn't sure I could just ring them about something like this. Perhaps ringing gp is the best idea.

Unfortunately there’s no hard and fast rule. Some EPUs allow self-referrals, some don’t.

I would suggest calling your local EPU and seeing what they say.

Thanks @CatHatSat I'll try giving them a call tomorrow and hope they don't think I'm silly for ringing!

Definitely sounds like gas! Nothing to worry about 😊

ponderingpaula · 19/10/2022 11:37

I 100% felt my second baby moving when I was around 10-11 weeks. Not kicks but movement, only when lying down and concentrating but it definitely was not gas. 7 weeks seems very early as they are so tiny then but why not, maybe you have very good interoceptive skills

FourOclock · 19/10/2022 11:53

I felt my third from about 10 weeks, so much earlier than the other two. It could be a combo of just knowing what movements feel like, plus maybe a little further along than you thought? I had visible kicks on the outside from 15 weeks which was also so much earlier than my other two

B1993 · 19/10/2022 12:57

@ponderingpaula 3-4 weeks will make a big difference to baby's size, won't it?. Why not? Most medical journals I've read and research I've looked at suggest the earliest to feel TRUE movement is around 12 weeks. Take that as you will, but gas bubbles moving through the intestines can feel like little flutters - the same feeling those initial movements feel like. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Personally I've had fluttery feelings (I'm
akso 7 weeks, with baby 2) and based on my research, that's seems like the only plausible explanation so let's agree to disagree 🤣

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 19/10/2022 13:00

It could actually be gas. I have IBS and feel kicks like pregnancy kicks loads. It's very weird feeling and have had to take tests to make sure not pregnant! I am not but only 7 weeks.
