Bloody show at 34+4

Hi ladies

Has anybody ever had a bloody show as early as 34 weeks but didn’t go into labour until or close to their due date?

I’m just back from the maternity unit as I’ve been having bleeding/bloody discharge and the doctor says my cervix is closed but the bleeding is my bloody show.

Obviously I’m worried as I’m only 34+4 and would like baby to stay put until fully cooked. All I have read online is that baby could arrive shortly after the show!

This is my 2nd baby, 1st arrived at 40+5.

I had this with my second baby too. Although I also had leaking waters, she held on until 40+6 all fine. I was told the mucus plug can regenerate,

Its a good sign your cervix is closed, so hopefully your baby will hold on a few more weeks.

Thanks so much, that’s really reassuring. It’s such a fright when you’re not yet expecting it. Fingers crossed they stay put for a bit longer!

It could still be weeks until baby comes. My mucus plus has been coming away for the past 2 weeks and still nothing. Also you’ll be full term at 37 weeks so as long as you get to that point which isn’t long now, then everything will be fine! :)

I’ve literally had this today and I’m petrified! I went in for cramps and after examination there was bloody show. I’m 35+5 and I still don’t have anything ready yet! (I’m very much in denial about this pregnancy). Please keep us updated as I really hope I have a few more weeks to prepare. Also good luck and congratulations! X

@Mildred01 sometimes an internal examination can aggravate the area and can cause some bloody discharge. Did the hospital say it’s definitely your show? Did they check your cervix?

Mine only last a day or so then disappeared but it came back yesterday only lightly. The hospital reassured me not to be worried.

I hope you’re doing ok as I know how much of a scare it can give you especially when you aren’t expecting it so early.
