Eeeeek! I have my c section booked this week when I’m 38+6.
so excited to meet my first baby but also nervous as it’s major surgery!
tell me your elcs experiences if you had one - what was it like, recovery etc.

I picked section over induction at 38+3 as was so certain my induction would be long and end in an emcs due to bigger baby/shoulder dystocia/baby not engaged and cervix very closed.

hopefully I picked the right option!!!

I’ve had an emergency, an elective and booked in again for an elective with my 3rd. The run up to the first one (failed induction) was horrendous but the epidural and c section itself was fine. 2nd time was a breeze. Recovery both times has been unproblematic, pain is manageable, just keep on top of the painkillers they suggest. Even with a toddler to take care of 2nd time round I was fine on my own when hubby went back to work after paternity leave (2 weeks). The best bit of advice I was given was that you will feel better everyday, if day 1 feels like you’ll never stand up properly again, it will be so much better by tomorrow so don’t panic. I’d say the worst thing both times was first poo so try to eat and drink things to keep everything regular and use lactulose if you’re struggling. Good luck!

I had an ELCS with my first over an induction and it was lovely. Very far removed from the original plan but still a really positive experience.

The day was calm, operation was textbook- minimal blood loss, baby came out and straight on to me immediately.

My recovery was really good, I had a fancy battery operated dressing which periodically sucked the air out of it so the wound healed really nicely. Was off all pain relief by day 4/5.

I did go a little too overboard with thinking I was fine though and went for a long walk on day 5 and overdid it a bit, so I was a bit sore again the next day but just achey.

DP had to help me get out of bed for the first few days but that was about it.

Good luck!

I haven’t had any experiences of it, but I have mine booked next week too at 38 weeks on the dot due to rising blood sugars in GD that are no longer being controlled by diet only, and baby’s been breech since 28 weeks. Nervous 😬

@dreamerkr eeeek! Mine is on Thur- hope everything goes well for you! My baby was breech too between 33 and 37 weeks and then randomly turned in the night!
