Pig brain

Hi,

Before pregnancy, I was very adventurous when it came to trying new foods. I would happily eat any animal/insect as long as it is prepared and cooked correctly.

So now that I'm pregnant I am very cautious of what I eat and I am aware of the most common foods to avoid e.g. rare steak, soft cheeses, liver etc. But is cooked pig brain safe to eat during pregnancy? (Yes, you read that right, cooked pig brain!) I can't seem to find any information online. I'm going to a restaurant that serves half a suckling pig with the brain cooked inside. I know this might freak a lot of people out, but I'd really like to try it as I've never had it before. But obviously only if it's safe in pregnancy.

Thanks xx

Can’t see any reason why not. As long as it is cooked fully.

The only risk I can think of, that isn’t pregnancy specific but worth considering, is prion diseases like vCJD that can be transmitted by eating brain/spinal cord tissue?
