Help.
Please.
They really really hurt, it feels like someone is pushing needles through my nipples, what can I do to stop them hurting so bad?

put something cold on them - can of coke?

scorpio1 · 26/01/2008 19:44

warm just might encourage any milk or colostrum out, which we don't need just yet!

VictorianSqualor · 26/01/2008 19:44

Are you serious scorpio??
I think I'd go through the roof if I tried!!

scorpio1 · 26/01/2008 19:46

yep, serious.

you know how i have never BF - well i used to put cold things on them to take the heat away whilst the milk went, is very good distraction.

VictorianSqualor · 26/01/2008 19:49

I'm scared

or you could go give yourself a black eye or something as a distraction technique!!

Is your bra well fitting?

scorpio1 · 26/01/2008 19:51

hope it stops for you soon though, as if there isn't enough going on!

Can recommend cabbage leaves (not kidding )

They have been scientifically proven (!) to help breast engorgement.

Something to do with amino acids in leaves dilating capillaries and acts as a counter-irritant, relieving engorgement and allowing milk to flow easily.

Don't know if you are breast-feeding or not VS but worth a try. Can really sympathise!
Not necessary to chill the leaves but some do!!

scaryhairycat · 26/01/2008 20:08

Hi VictorianSqualor, I had this with my first pg in the first trimester. I found gently massaging the actual nipple (sorry!) helped. Mine hurt when I got really cold, is this the same for you?

scaryhairycat · 26/01/2008 20:10

Felt like they were shrivelling up!

Countingthegreyhairs · 26/01/2008 20:27

sorry VS - somehow missed you were in 1st trimester ...

... puts cabbage down and slopes off ....

VictorianSqualor · 26/01/2008 20:32

LOL, I'm not first trimester! I'm 30weeks.
I feel like it would be sooo much better if any milk would just come out!

... picks cabbage up again ...
