Bleeding on and off 6-7 weeks pregnant

Hi everyone

I had a scan last Friday which showed the start of baby and a lovely heartbeat.

I have a haemorrhagic cyst on my left ovary however they are not concerned about this.

I have been bleeding on and off since I found out at about 4 weeks pregnant.

It's pink, brown or light red and only appears on the tissue when I wipe, no clots and I don't need to wear a pad.

Has anyone had this and baby is okay?

After lots of miscarriages, I'm really anxious.

I was advised to take aspirin by the recurrent miscarriage clinic but I'm wondering if this is causing more bleeding? I don't have any known clotting disorders.

Yes - had similar bleeding, was even dark enough that I thought I'd miscarried. Currently cuddling my 4 day old baby.

@barneymcgroo congratulations! Thank you for giving me some hope! X

Welcome - and I really hope your one sticks! X

Yes! I've had both outcomes sadly; but my heaviest bleed (soaking pads) was actually ok and she's now 8 months old! Horrible though - wishing you all the luck for
The rest of your pregnancy!

Hi @elm26 just wanted to say I'm in the same boat. I'm 7+3 and started having the same kind of light brown in my discharge at 6+2. Very light only when I wipe really. I freaked out (previous MMC) and went to EPU and have a tiny baby and HB, all fine. Midwife show me a spot where I think she said about burying and bruising as placenta is formed etc (I was incredibly anxious so it's all just a blur ha, and DH doesn't quite remember wither) but she did say that spotting is v common, all sorts from brown to punk to stringy (!). I've still got it when I wipe every now and then but trying not to stress - it's how I eventually found out about my MMC but tbf that progressed from light brown discharge to red blood overnight, which doesn't seem to be the case now.

Ive read every Mumsnet thread that talks about this and all I can surmise is if it gets heavier or redder I'll go back to EPU. Ill also mention it at my booking apt I think.

Handhold for you! X

Oh I'm also aspirin... Not sure if that's linked but interesting point!

I’m in the same boat, I’m 7 weeks today and have had bleeding for the last 10 days on and off. I’ve had scans and told I’ve a small subchorionic haematoma which is causing the bleeding. The baby is currently measuring on track and with a good heartbeat. I’m under a recurrent miscarriage protocol and was on aspirin and fragmin but they’ve told me to come off the aspirin for now. I think it’s just a case of waiting and watching to see if it gets bigger which is agonising!

Thank you everyone.

@sammielouise sorry to hear of your loss, I'm so happy to hear you have a healthy DD now. Gives me hope! X

@MO22 it's really worrying isn't it. Handhold for you too! Keep me updated, fingers crossed for a healthy pregnancy for you. I've stopped the aspirin which then seems to stop the bleeding which is weird. X

@Ifitistobesaid I had haematomas in 3 of my previous pregnancies. I know the feeling of watching and waiting it's bloody horrible. I wish you a healthy pregnancy, fingers crossed! x

@elm26 I wonder if I should stop with aspirin too?! I was never really sure what it did to be honest but an NHS gynaecologist recommend I start and it actually was the month I got pregnant!

elm26 · 12/10/2022 23:30

@MO22 I've been on aspirin for my last 4 pregnancies. I'm kind of winging this and doing what feels right for my body before we pay private for RMC if this pregnancy fails. They had me on clexane injections in my last 2 pregnancies as well as aspirin despite not having a clotting disorder and I ended up with big haemorrhages in my womb so I refused clexane this time around. Check with your midwife or dr though, don't just stop if you've been taking it all the way through just in case x

@elm26 have they ruled out a haematoma this time as the source of your bleeding?

Cw112 · 13/10/2022 19:37

I had a subchorionic hematoma at that stage and had multiple really awful bleeds (like clothes soaked through) and I'm 8 months now and everything is going well. Could be implantation bleeding but if you're worried contact fetal assessment for an early scan. They were so so lovely to us even though we had to go back twice before we were far enough along to get a heartbeat they were very reassuring but honest.

sammielouise · 13/10/2022 23:08

Do you have a follow up scan? I'd keep going back if you continue bleeding, even for reassurance. After 2 miscarriages, this time round I booked private scans at 6,8 and 10 weeks. Probably waste of money but it really helped me, knowing at that moment it was ok.

Did the recurrent miscarriage clinic discuss progesterone? My doctor was dismissive of it, so I went to a private doctor and got it prescribed. No idea If that's what helped this time, but something did!

Thinking of you. It's so awfully stressful isn't it. Miscarriages are doubly horrible as it robs you of any excitement in the early days SadFlowers

@Ifitistobesaid @Cw112 thank you, I've had haematomas in my previous pregnancies but not this time. X

@sammielouise thank you 💗 I've got an NHS scan next week when I should be 8 weeks but I went for a private scan today as couldn't wait. Baby is all good x
