Bleeding at 5 weeks 4 days

Hi all, so I've been bleeding a mix of bright red blood/ pink and brown since Sunday. Had a scan at EPU yesterday which put me at 5 weeks 4+ days. The doctor could see a yok sak, but said it was too early for seeing embryo or heartbeat. (My HCG was good and she could see the yok sak implanted at top of womb)

She's booked me in for two weeks time, but obviously I am utterly terrified.

Has anyone been through similar? Or any positive stories? Just want to know what to prepare myself for at this point, as with DD I only had the tiniest bit of pink spotting that went away within a day, so this is totally new :(

Sorry to hear this. My Mum bled with my sister quite badly and she was born healthy and well. I had pink blood the day of my 12 weeks scan, so later, and my DS was born safe and well. I have also had an early miscarriage at 8 weeks.

It's very early and hard to tell what might happen lovely. All I can say is it is nothing you are doing or have done and only time will tell. I wish you all the best

@LondonLovie thank you for this kind and lovely message. You're right - it's all just a horrible waiting game at this point but it helps me hold on to a little hope to hear about your mum. Thank you xxx

Hi @cupcake1233 I’ve read the thread as I am going through something similar. Any update on your situation? Hope it turned out ok.

DiaryofWimpyMumm · 18/10/2022 16:27

I bled quite a lot with DS1 I'm unsure if it was implantation bleeding but it subsided after a few weeks.

Good luck!

cupcake1233 · 18/10/2022 20:44

@Newja - since last week the bleeding has slowed down a little and I have a scan booked for next week. I have started to feel a bit sick as well, which I'm taking as a good sign but not feeling out of the clear at all yet, I'll keep you posted x

I had exactly the same at 5+3/4. No heartbeat, was asked if my dates were correct as quite small. 2 weeks later, went back, heart beat visible, asked if I was sure on my dates because baby was bigger than expected for that gestational age. He’s 15 months now. I know it’s easy to say because I had a positive outcome but the wait is tough and I found knowing that there was absolutely nothing I could do to change the outcome really comforted and grounded me. Big hugs.

Newja · 18/10/2022 20:52

@cupcake1233 glad it has slowed. Oh I can imagine the feeling of another symptom as to try to alleviate some fears…and hopefully you’ll get some good news next week.

I had bleeding at 5-6 weeks, @cupcake1233 - I absolutely thought it was game over, prepared myself for another miscarriage, cried bucketloads of tears and could barely breathe from anxiety.

But then within a few days the bleeding slowed, then stopped, and DD is currently almost three and sleeping peacefully as we speak!

To this day I don't know what caused the bleeding but there is definitely hope, especially as the bleeding has eased. Keeping my fingers crossed for you Flowers

I also had bleeding at the same stage. Same as you, there was a sac, then fortunately a heartbeat at 7 weeks. Then more bleeding on and off, including clots up to 17 weeks. Really horrible and upsetting to have. But that baby is now (supposed to be) sleeping upstairs.
Unfortunately it's impossible to tell if they'll stick or not, but please be kind to yourself, there's nothing you can do to influence the outcome. Unmumsnetty hugs to you and PP also going through the same.

@cupcake1233 lovely to hear your update.

Seasidesusy · 18/10/2022 21:30

I had bleeding at the same stage and also that awful two week wait between scans to see if there was a heartbeat. The longest two weeks of my life. I then had bleeding on and off until 26 weeks. They classed it as unexplained bleeding as the baby was well every time I was checked out. He’s 9 months old now so proof that bleeding doesn’t always mean the worst.. I know a few women who’ve had similar experiences. Hoping for the best outcome for you x

Hello all - stumbled across this while doing the night feed and reminded myself to come back and update for anyone who might find this one day.

bleeding lasted about a week but now watching DS crawl around the floor - so a wonderful, happy ending ❤️
