Eating a lot of sweet foods during 1st trimester

I went from having bad nausea daily (now controlled with anti-sickness tablets) to eating small amounts but sometimes it is sweet foods. Just ate a whole sharing pack of drumstick squashies.

I know this obviously isn’t great for me, but can it be harmful for baby?

Honestly don't worry too much, I had terrible morning sickness with both my children and had an awful diet in the first 12 weeks with both, mostly consisting of cheese puffs and Doritos as they were the only food items that didn't make me sick. My kids are fine, my son is obsessed with cheese puffs but I don't have the scientific knowledge to say if that's related or not.
Try to eat high protein, fresh fruit and vegetables where you can, and take any prenatal vitamins but I wouldn't worry too much if you can't, baby won't be harmed by eating sweets

Just try to survive the first trimester and you'll be fine. I would vomit if I tried to eat anything other than toast. Take your vitamins and eat healthy when you're over the sickness x

No it won’t harm your baby. You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do to survive in the first trimester. Congratulations!

Interesting the PP who says it's a girl if eating a lot of sweets. All I wanted to eat throughout my pregnancy was pick and mix type sweets! Baby was a girl.

I lived off heavily buttered toast in my first trimester with my first DD. She is happy and healthy (and loud and able to function on no sleep) toddler now. Try to take your vitamin if you can and don’t worry about it too much. My mom (a retired midwife) said the baby will get everything it needs from you. She used the adjective “leech”, which I didn’t like but got the point!

Yes I was the same with my dd and I never normally eat sweets, also my niece was the same with her dd.
