Strep b symptoms 19 weeks

Hello…..first time posting. I’m 19 weeks pregnant and have just been told I have strep b from a swab. I was treated for thrush -
3/4 weeks ago but didn’t have any symptoms apart from a yellow discharge, this was picked up from internal swab I did myself. Was given a pessary but thought it didn’t work or had retuned as developed burning down there and was red so went back last week. Was given another pessary and swabbed around the outside this time. Doctor phoned yesterday and said I have strep b, need to go on antibiotics straight away and tell midwife etc. She said the symptoms for strep b can be mistaken for thrush and gave amoxicillin. Have looked through loads of threads and can’t seem to find anyone who has had a similar situation, can’t find any threads where proper actual h had these symptoms, seems to be only antibiotics given if picked up as a uti. Obviously worrying a little now as wondering why I have symptoms when most dont and if it can affect anything. Also thought it might be helpful to others to post a thread as it seems strep b can be missed as it’s mistaken for thrush and testing isn’t offered routinely. Anyone else had similar?

Apologies. That was supposed to say where anyone else had these symptoms.

Hey - I also had/have strep b which was picked up at 16w as a result of me being tested for infection. Loads of people say it symptomless but I had increased discharge and pain in my tummy which was why I was being tested for infection. My swabs were positive for strep b but no infection in urine so no anti-biotics needed until Labour.

I am now 28weeks and all good now so hopefully your symptoms will ease xx

Hi……thanks for replying, glad you’re feeling better, so worrying when you don’t feel well. I also have a bit of pain low in my tummy but my midwife said it’s probably just my uterus stretching. She also said she’s never heard of anyone with vaginal symptoms of strep b 😬I’m wondering if maybe I still have thrush but surely the swab would have picked that up also. The doctor said they can have similar symptoms and antibiotics should clear it up. No one tested my urine. Hopefully these antibiotics will work if not it’s back to the gp…….
