Spotting at 4 weeks

Hi ladies, just need some help, so this is my 4th pregnancy with unfortunately no living children. I had a miscarriage last month. 4 weeks ago and have tested positive yesterday. On Saturday night I had brown spotting and had a couple of pink spotting since. I’ve been to hospital for my beta as my second pregnancy was an ectopic, my hcg came back as 218. I’m definitely pregnant but no idea why I’m spotting, I have repeat bloods on Wednesday but it seems so far away. Anyone have any similar stories or spotting and positive outcome?

just every loss I’ve had included spotting to bleeding and I’m poorly with worry.

Hey Vienna

With my DD I had some light spotting at 5 weeks and everything was absolutely fine. She's perfect and 18 months old now 😊 I'm currently pregnant again and had spotting around the same time, this time for longer and even some darker almost red spotting after having a bowel movement. I had a scan at 6 weeks and everything appeared normal. I sometimes spot a bit now if I strain when going to the loo. I'm 10 weeks, waiting on my 12 week scan to know 100% everything is OK.

It can be normal but if you're worried probably best to get in touch with your gp and asked to be referred to your local EPU and double check. Really hoping it all turns out OK for you ❤️

I also had spotting around 5 or so weeks which got slightly heavier and worried me so I had a private scan and all seemed normal then. I didn't spot with my first so it felt unusual.

I'm now 21 weeks with a little girl so spotting doesn't always mean anything bad! But defo call your EPU if you're worried and explain your previous miscarriages. There may be some more support available for you and closer monitoring. Good luck!

Yep another with brown spotting, couple bits of pink. It lasted till 7 weeks.

Are you doing pessaries?

I had brown and pink spotting at 4 weeks - thought it was implantation; and then spotted brown again weeks 5 and 7 at which point I freaked out as my previous MC started that way but baby was fine. Totally understand the anxiety though that comes with any spotting. Best of luck to you this time x

Hi ladies,

thank you all so much for getting back to me. It’s such a traumatic time for me with already having 3 losses, this time I have no cramping like previous times when spotting. I’ve been to epau today for bloods, hcg 218 I have to go for repeated bloods on Wednesday then they’ll scan me when they’re high enough due to my previous ectopic pregnancy. This is also my first pregnancy conceived with no fertility drugs, praying for a positive outcome ❤️

Is there any chance you could speak to your GP about taking progesterone? x

Vienna1993 · 10/10/2022 20:22

@Veryxonfused I’m under a consultant for fertility, we’ve been trying for nearly 5 years, they do my progesterone blood tests when I’ve been on clomid and always had no issues

Ah okay. Sorry I don’t really have anything helpful to say but I had a scan recently at 6 weeks due to spotting at 4 weeks then again at 5+6. There was a heartbeat and they saw blood on the scan and said it was harmless implantation bleeding. I’ve everything crossed all goes well for us both
