reducing morning sickness

Hi all. This is my first pregnancy and I am almost 8 weeks. Beginning week 6 I had quite a lot of nausea particularly during my long commute on the train but was never actually sick - it was more like bad travel sickness and I would just munch on some crackers which seemed to help it ease. I'm not sure if its because I've been off work for a few days now but my nausea is very mild now and I'm worried its a bad sign? I had an early scan last week and everything was fine but all the research I've done seems to indicate the nausea should be getting worse not easing. Very strange to be wanting to feel unwell! Just wondered if any of you have had a similar experience at all or found that it comes in waves and some weeks can be good and some bad. Thanks

Hi - mine eased a bit around 8 weeks and then at the end of 10 weeks got worse than it had been before!! Its crazy how the hormones change and make us feel.
I am constantly checking my body for veins and looking for changes.
I'm 11 weeks now and don't have my 12 week scan until nearly 13 weeks. None of it feels real does it.
Just constantly hoping for symptoms as reassurance lol.

I had nausea and sickness until 8+4. Then it completely disappeared. I previously had a missed miscarriage so I booked a private scan at 9 weeks and saw it was measuring ok (2 days behind but with a heartbeat).

Im now 9+5 and for the last two days the nausea and sickness is back and worse than before.

Thanks for the replies. So seems normal enough that it can go and come back! Sorry to hear about your missed miscarriage, that is what I was worried about. Having symptoms somehow does feel more reassuring even though the symptoms are so unpleasant.

Im 16 weeks now but had absolutely awful morning sickness for about a week at 8 weeks (waking up at 2/3am to be sick, again at 7am, constant nausea).

Nausea has come and gone since then, but did start to settle down from I think 11 weeks.

I was randomly sick last weekend twice, which was REALLY annoying more than anything else as was getting confident the sickness was gone.

This is my second- with my son I only remember a teeny tiny bit of nausea.

I’m also 8 weeks and mine is definitely coming in waves, it totally disappeared last Sunday and I was starting to worry but then it came back on Thursday and I’ve felt nauseous everyday since. The week before I also had 2 days feeling fine. I’ve had 2 scans so far (IVF pregnancy) and everything is looking absolutely fine.

The days I’m feeling fine I’m worrying and wishing it would come back to reassure me and the days I feel grim I’m wishing it would go 😂 there’s no winning.

@Northtosouth thats reassuring to know your nausea sounds similar to mine and you have been having scans and all is ok. You're right there is no winning with this, either feel sick with nausea or sick with worry that you don't have nausea!!!

Some foods help - dry crunchy things, ginger, watery sweet drinks. Sleep and rest both help as tiredness makes it worse, trying to maintain a steady sugar level can help (ginger biscuits are an option). Its a case of riding it out for most women. If you end up with the more extreme forms and HG seek help from the doctor - there are some things safe to take.

Obviously no housework can be done during this period...
