Bleeding at 14 weeks

Hi,

I'm really nervous and looking for some reassurance. I am 14w2 and started bleeding last night with the odd cramp, i went to epau to get checked and they did a speculum which said it was okay and closed, and they did a scan, baby was all fine with hb.

I've woken up this morning and still bleeding quite a bit enough to soak a liner but not really any cramps. I don't know if this is normal or anyone else has gone through the same?

I wonder if you have a subchorionic haematoma? It’s usually nothing to worry about and clears up by 20 weeks or so.

With my DC3 I had a huge gush of blood at 13 weeks and was convinced I had lost him, but a scan showed the haematoma.

I bled for a few weeks, then it cleared up.

Are they going to do a follow up scan?

Put your feet up as much as you can and try to rest.

I had a huge bleed after my 13 week scan, was bleeding for over a month much of it was older blood, but the initial bleed was clots and heavy bleeding.
I saw my miscarriage obstetrics consultant for a
Scan the day after the bleed started and she said the baby was fine and she wasn't worried. That baby is 14 now and everything was fine
Try to take that as sometimes these things happen and it's ok

@RainbowsMoonbeams I was thinking it may be something like this, but thought they may have detected it on the scan.

They haven't said they would rescan, just to monitor and get back in contact, I might call them today to say it's gotten a bit heavier overnight.

I will definitely take it easy today, thanks for responding rainbows and glad it was all okay for you, it's reassuring to hear

@custardbear thanks for the reassurance and glad all was okay for you.

Did they say what the bleeding was when you saw the consultant?

I think I'm more anxious as I've had 2 earlier losses before so just hoping so much this time works out okay

My scan following my bleed in EPU was very much just looking for a heartbeat. Perhaps they could have missed looking for a possible cause and focused on your baby?

I went for a private scan with a good sonographer who walked me through the cause of my bleed. Might be worth considering if EPU don’t rescan if you can?

Wishing you luck. I know how stressed and upset I was.

@Sunnyxo when they did the scan did they actively look for where the bleed was coming from or just to check baby was still okay in there? I had quite a few bleeds in my pregnancy that were just unexplained and put down to the fact my uterus was just getting irritated and blood vessels bursting as uterus was stretching. It was obviously very worrying but turned out to just be ‘one of those things’

@SassyPants87 @RainbowsMoonbeams I think it was just to see if baby was okay, and check the womb was still closed, they were short staffed because of the weekend but were really helpful as a MW came from another ward to quickly do the scan.

I'll see if they are able to see me at a better time or see if I can get somewhere private.

I'm hoping all okay and it is just maybe unexplained bleeding like you had @SassyPants87 or a less serious cause , thank you both though it's reassuring to have some positive outcomes
