Long haul work trip at 15 weeks

Hi - I do quote. A bit of international travel for work and just wondering what other people would do in this situation. I’m only 5 weeks now so much earlier than I would want to tell anyone and they are arranging for me to fly out to asia when I’ll be about 14 weeks for about 10 days (three different locations there). It’s long days and quite intense while travelling. This is my first pregnancy so no idea how I’ll feel then. I’m currently doing ok with just a little bit of sickness and fatigue (and super sore boobs!)

just looking for opinions really…

thanks!

You should be fine - second trimester is the best time to be doing things like that but I think I'd make work aware before you travel.
I assume the activities you will be doing at the other end will be safe?
If you aren't ok to tell work yet (and think you are fine not to tell them), the travel will just have to be cancelled if they decide you shouldn't go when you let them know in over a months time.

Thanks @StillNotWarm for the super quick reply! All the work I’ll be doing is pretty desk based so no worries about that :) good to hear it works quite well being in the second trimester then!

You should be fine, though if international travel is something you feel you will struggle with, is there a sideways move you can make within your company to avoid it

You should be fine. I did a fair bit of long haul travel when I was pregnant.

15 weeks is the bloated but no proper bump stage for most so you might want to stock up on some loose clothing for comfort.

You should be fine - I travelled a lot while pregnant, both short and long haul. My only requirement was that it had to be somewhere with good medical care accessible just in case.

Are they countries that have zika? If so I wouldn't go

Babybaby66 · 06/10/2022 15:15

Thanks everyone, really helpful i our. Sounds like I’ll be fine to go ahead then!

@Babybaby66 You should be ok but where abouts in Asia? You’d want to make sure about zika and any other travel jabs recommended are safe for pregnancy. Make sure they do a risk assessment too.

The second trimester is when you will probably feel great. Even into the 2nd month of 3rd. I really felt great with all of my pregnancies until about a month before my due date.

Babybaby66 · 06/10/2022 16:45

@Fran919 oh good point I had not even thought about that!! I’ll have to do some research tonight before
