5 weeks pregnant.. clear blue saying 1-2. Worried about miscarriage.

I’m hoping for some advice please..

Ive tested this week twice using CBD with first urine and the result has come back 1-2 weeks, I should be around 5+3 (positive OT on 10th Sep and PT on 23rd - I have a short cycle).

Ive been having some spotting - ranging from brownish/blood tinged discharge to yesterday bright red blood in my urine. I know this can be benign as I had the same with my daughter (now 2).

However, I had a MC in August and I’m really finding it hard this time the waiting. I’m going to get a private scan at 7 weeks, and I guess I was hoping the CBD would give me some reassurance until then but it’s just put my head in a complete spin. Convinced myself my boobs aren’t as sore as last week, etc.

Any advice/experience/words of reassurance would be appreciated.

I’m on a similar journey - if it’s any support.

I miscarried my first pregnancy around the same time as you and now I am also 5 weeks pregnant again.

I can understand your anxiety - especially around using the Clearblue digital - if it’s any reassurance, each nurse I’ve spoken to on my journey has been very wary of those particular tests due to the stress they cause when they don’t progress through the weeks as we expect/hope.

Ive read many stories on here where womens tests haven’t progressed on the weeks indicator - but have gone on to have full term pregnancies. That’s not to say this is the case every time, but if at all possible try your very hardest to move away from those tests 💕 a scan when you can, may be the best route?

I know it’s easier said than done with testing.

Hi, sorry for your MC, been there and know the awful anxiety a new pregnancy brings.

That sounds about right for 5 weeks as CBD counts from the time of conception not your last LMP like the way we normally measure a pregnancy? So you need to take away 4 from your 5+3 = 1-2 weeks per CBD.

Dont be disheartened if it doesn’t increase next week though, they are notoriously inaccurate!

Hey , I’m so very sorry for your loss and so sorry you are feeling worried , I completely understand but the weeks indicators aren’t always reliable .I found that my afternoon/evening urine gave a stronger result . I’m 5+2 today going from LMP, positive ovulation on 11th Sept . I got my 2-3 weeks on a CB last Wednesday 28th and my 3+ result on Monday evening , however everyone is different, CB even gives a warning that weeks indicator isn’t always accurate and it does depend on when you actually implanted. I hope your scan can put your mind at ease .Good luck xx

It's from conception so 2 weeks less than what you would usually count (not 4 as PP said).

From experience the CB weeks digital was the first sign of my loss. Although I did go from 1-2, to 2-3 then back to 1-2 so that showed my HCG was decreasing (this was confirms by bloods).

For reference I got 3+ at 5+4 for this pregnancy.

I have read up on these tests and I have found a mix of stories/forum posts where there has been positive and negative outcomes and mix reviews on the reliability of these tests.

Have you spoken to EPU to see if they will do bloods? Sorry if my response hasn't reassured you and I wish you all the best

@KatySp congratulations on your pregnancy - I had the same CBD results you’ve had when pregnant with my daughter :) I haven’t been in touch with the EPU as yet. I’m reluctant - I miscarried in 2018 before falling pregnant with my daughter and the EPU/GPs were fantastic, but post covid feels like a different story.. I was told by the last GP I spoke to in August to “wait a couple more weeks and see where I’m at, as there’s nothing to see at 6/7 weeks on a scan ” - I know from experience that they saw my daughters heartbeat at 5+5 and feel they were just trying to fob me off to avoid a referral.

Fingers crossed it’s a case of the CBD being unreliable, but I have a bit of a gut feeling unfortunately (which I’m also hoping is unreliable!)
