Freespirit98 · 05/10/2022 10:38

Hi, just wanted to know if anyone had been for an early reassurance scan at around the same time as me!

I have got one tonight I am 7 weeks and 4 days and just wanting to know what to expect really as feeling a bit anxious! I had a miscarriage back in July and just praying to see little bean moving on the screen 🥺

Can you see much at this stage or a blob lol?

Thanks in advance Xx

sorry I have absolutely nothing to add but I’m just booking in a scan for 7+3 so interested to hear anyone else’s replies!

Hello, I’ve had lots of early scans around that date and although it will be a bit of a blob 😅 you should see the heartbeat flickering! Good luck!

FlyOnTheWall89 · 05/10/2022 11:34

@Freespirit98 I saw a blobb shape with flickering heart at 6+1 so you'll definitely see something at 7 +4. At 8+4, she was really looking more baby like. X

Following as I’ve just rearranged my 6 week scan to 7+2
Hope everything goes well

twoandcooplease · 05/10/2022 13:40

We saw baby's heartbeat at 6+2 xx

Amipreg1 · 05/10/2022 13:46

I had a scan at 7+2 and we saw a little flicker of a heartbeat and what looked like the start of a baby forming.
I had an internal scan so be prepared for them suggesting that as they can then get a much clearer look.

7+4 early scan?
Babybaby66 · 05/10/2022 13:53

@Freespirit98 let us know how your scan tonight goes - good luck!!

@Amipreg1 how was the internal scan? Everything I’ve read said ‘it’s not painful’ but I don’t know if I believe it! I’m fine with a bit of pain, just like to be prepared…

Veryxonfused · 05/10/2022 15:07

I’ve had an internal scan before and it honestly isn’t painful. It’s bigger than it looks and they lube it up 😂😂
This is coming from someone who absolutely hates cervical exams, I’m almost in tears at them

Verytirednow · 05/10/2022 15:12

Good luck OP . Expect to see a blob with a flicker . The sonographer referred to her as a raspberry.

Veryxonfused · 05/10/2022 15:12

I meant to say smaller than it looks 🤦‍♀️

I work in ultrasound. An internal scan shouldn't be painful, no more than using a tampon, sex toys or having sex. Its also nothing like a smear test, no speculum etc. It's a long slim probe but only the tip goes in, it sits where a tampon sits and has lots of sterile lube and a protective sheath on it. The sensation can be a bit odd as the sonographer moves it side to side to get good views of womb, endometrium, ovaries, and pregnancy etc.

Babybaby66 · 05/10/2022 15:36

Thanks so much for the replies, that has made me feel a lot better! :)

Ifiwasabird · 05/10/2022 15:41

I've had tons of internal scans and definitely not painful. At 7 weeks it will still be very blob like but you should see a heartbeat. Don't be too worried if they measure you at a different date. At that stage everything is so tiny it's a matter of millimetres.

Wibbli · 05/10/2022 15:45

No advice but good luck!

I've had a few internal scans for various reasons and they've been absolutely fine. Not painful at all.

AriettyHomily · 05/10/2022 16:58

I had one at 7 weeks, after MMC, 11 years ago and I'm sure things have advanced since then. Found my twins easily on TV scan. Hope it goes well.

Aww 🥺 Thank you lovely! I'm sure I read on the reviews that the place I'm going only offers abdominal ultrasounds! But we shall see when I get there, thank you

Perfect thank you!! My midwife said the dates were correct on the phone but as you say I might measure different. Thank you so much. I don't think the place I've booked do internal so just abdominal at this stage!
