Pregnancy post lletz - consultant app

I had the lletz procedure last year, after the birth of my first son, and now pregnant with baby #2- 25 weeks. I am consultant led because of the lletz procedure and also because I had a C sec last time, however- my first consultant app isnt until I'm 36 weeks pregnant! No scans of my cervix nor has the midwife looked at my medical notes from the lletz procedure or my first pregnancy. Is this normal? Should I have had a consultant app already to assess risk from lletz??

Thanks!

yes, looks like no one has looked at the details for your lletz procedure, they need to see how deep the tissue removal was and if it was more than 15mm you need a scan of your cervix to measure it, if the cervix doesn’t measure between 3-4cm, you are at risk of premature birth and will need more scans and possibly a stitch.

i had a lletz in 2017 and then got pregnant and had a baby in 2018. The hospital I was with then didn’t refer me to a cervix scan and I also didn’t know they should have.

2nd pregnancy, different city, had a consultant appointment around 10 weeks as I’m high risk from previous pregnancy and other factors, she saw that I had the lletz and sent me for a cervix scan. Got the app a month later and fortunately all is ok.

you need to tell your midwife, she’s the one that booked the first consultant app for me, given my history. She’ll be able to contact the consultant or maybe even refer you for the scan.

ah my midwife didn’t have any notes from previous pregnancy, but I told her all my history. Maybe she doesn’t know or expected you to tell her? Where I am they don’t have access to the previous hospital records.

You should be seen by the prematurity clinic between 10 and 12 weeks, where they will scan your cervix for length and strength.

You will probably have repeated scans of your cervix throughout your pregnancy.

Call your midwife team or the maternity triage/helpline and chase the appointment.
