in one of these? or in a moses basket?

Or you just hold the baby and stare at it for hours on end

Pram? Moses basket? baby bouncer? any of the above.

TBH all DS did was sleep so he spent most of the time in his pram

rug on floor
under baby gym
bouncy chair
sling
travel cot/playpen/moses basket downstairs
baby swing (get one get one get one - the little ones - get one get one get one)

on knee in front of tv with plentiful supply of tea and biscuits

But get a swing.

I used to put my girls either in the bouncer chair or under the play gym. We had a playnest we were given but never used it, looked uncomfortable.

Sling

With ds and dd I had a padded bouncy chair which was always i the room I was in. It was good fot naps too.

I also had one of those baby gym playmat thingies with the toy arches that hang above. They would get popped down there for a littel while if necessary.

Ds got bored and needed holdiing more than dd did. It depends on the baby.

I'm expceting no3 now and ave just bought a sling because with 2 other children I think I'll have more to get on with around the house etc and I might as well take baby around with me.

Dpends how much space you've got. But I'd say a playmat and a bouncy chair are good investments.

I alternated between pram and breast

Under baby gym, in rocking chair, in pram, on rug on floor. They do sleep a lot at first.

I wondered that too when pg with #1

Mostly, she was either feeding or asleep. Mostly I held her. When I did put her down it was in a moses basket in the sitting room, or on the sofa (bad bad don't do this) or on the floor on a rug, or on the bed (also quite bad don't do this).

Squonk is right. Just hold and stare in wonder.

Moses basket when asleep
baby bouncer when awake

On day one dd was literally not put down at all - just cuddled alternately by me and dh (we were almost fighting over her)

Thereafter - sling; pram; rug on floor; somtimes car seat (but not for very long at a time when newborn)

excellent excellent, so basically you have a lot of options, right? i was worried that putting baby on rug might be a crime that meritted the attention of social services.

moses basket or being cuddled/bf. Our bouncy chair wasn't good for a newborn as there was no support but you can get some that do.
a rug is fine though!

Yep, we were leant a swing just before ds was born, and he spent time in there, time in his moses basket next to the armchair, and loads of time being held by me in the first few days.

Wherever you put him/her, you will keep going back every 30 secs just to look at him/her, you just do .

Oh, I also thought his car seat was brilliant, cos once dh had gone back to work, I would take ds into whichever room I was in (kitchen, bathroom) and he could snooze or be chatted to (or nuzzled, I did that alot too )

DS1 was happy to be in his swing but car seat was definitely his favorite as slept in it for two weeks. Ds2 preferred to be held all the time. His real spot was asleep on my chest for two weeks.

DS slept on a muslin on the floor once he was too big for his basket but couldn't go anywhere, for his daytime naps
Yes, I wondered this too!

For the first few weeks DS was either asleep in his moses basket or feeding, or being burped, that was all he did for a while. Then he started staying awake a bit longer so we started putting him in his bouncy chair for a bit, and under his baby gym as well.

My DS lay on a beanbag for the first few weeks (when not in his crib at night).

In the traditional style silver cross or on big ring cushion on the floor (dog bed one so it is flatter than the play nest things and more suitable for a young baby to lie on for ages and sleep), I wouldn't leave a little one proped up for any period of time.
