Scramble, had you washed the dog hairs off, or did they just share the bed?

flowerybeanbag · 25/01/2008 15:53

Puppy was it flowery....?

LoveAngel · 25/01/2008 15:53

We put our son in one of those little baby bouncer things, or in his moses basket. Other than that, we did a lot of sitting down having cups of tea/walking around jiggling with him in our arms :-)

clumsymum · 25/01/2008 16:01

I remember our 2nd day home.

Dh went to get us a takeaway.

man in shop: "Been doing anything exciting today"

DH: "watching my little boy"

Man in shop: "has he been playing football?"

DH: "No, just sleeping"

I remember so clearly walking through the door with DS back from hospital and thinking exactly that. Where do I put him? Now what!? All suggestions good, but you won't be able to resist him for long wherever you put him.

Swing was fab1 I agree. Get one! Especially if baby has colic!

vickyy · 25/01/2008 16:54

What type of swing? One of those electric ones you plug in and it swings itself and plays music, or something simpler?

haggisaggis · 25/01/2008 17:00

This is just bringing back the feeling of panic returning from hospital when we plonked ds in his car seat on top of the coffee table and it sank in that we were responsible for him!

clumsymum · 25/01/2008 17:43

yep vickyy, an electric one (ours was battery I'm sure, but was 8 years ago)

sit down / lie down with them and cuddle

they have been inside you for 9 months, keep them close!

ScarlettOHairy · 25/01/2008 17:59

Oh God this thread is making me soooooo broody

We had a sheepskin rug for dd and she lay on that if not in our arms or on our lap

debinaustria · 25/01/2008 18:03

With us it was just moses basket or with me or dh, cuddling. I remember that feeling as we got in from hospital and thinking OMG - now what?

oxocube · 25/01/2008 18:22

Oh God, I am almost 42 and am definitely 'done' with having babies, but this post has made me broody too The thought of 'just staring in wonder, for hours' is making me cry.

PussinWellies · 25/01/2008 22:11

Depends what sort of baby it is.

Rule of thumb from midwife friend on home visits goes as follows...
First baby: will be in lovely Moses basket in living room
Second baby: in playpen out of reach of jealous toddler
Third baby: errm, kids, can anyone remember where I put the baby?

whomovedmychocolate · 25/01/2008 22:17

ebay?

I'm kidding before you all jump on me!

sweetkitty · 25/01/2008 22:20

pussinwellies - thats so true

DD2 was in a travel cot most of the time to stop DD1 getting at her (she was only 18 months at the time, when not in travel cot she was on me feeding.

DB3 will probably spend most of it's time in a sling or being forgotten about somewhere.

UmSabria · 26/01/2008 05:57

middle of bed

BexieID · 26/01/2008 06:14

We didn't get a swing till Tom was 2 weeks old, and he didn't like going in it at first. He loved it in the end though. Deffo a worthwhile investment! He ws on the boob alot, slept in his moses basket and we had a gym. I lived with my parents for 3 months, so they had him as well!

Flllightattendant · 26/01/2008 06:18

Pram, or basket on the floor, or sofa when he was too little to roll off. Or he just lay on my lap as I wasn't doing much!

BexieID · 26/01/2008 06:23

Tom laid on my lap too, well on the nursing pillow. He'd wake up every time you put him in his moses basket!

Janni · 26/01/2008 06:33

beanbags are good and you get use out of them later, whereas you only get a few months out of a moses basket before you start wondering 'now what can I dump in here?'

Wilkie · 26/01/2008 08:04

I had a lovely padded playmat baby gym that I used to put on the floor with DS underneath, or I would take his nappy off, lay him on a towel on a playmat I bought from Verbaudet and let him have some 'naked time' without his nappy off - used to do this about 3 times a day cos he loved kicking his legs and getting air to his bits

Good luck - I am sooooooo jealous and broody!! ;)

luciemule · 26/01/2008 08:17

we put DS in a baby bouncer - lying back on flattest setting with a sheep skin rug on. He was very snuggly and it was the only place we could get him to sleep for at least 15 mins!

tyaca · 26/01/2008 12:05

wilkie my nana did that naked time thing with my mum, and my mum reckoned i enjoyed nothing more!
