Severe abdominal pain 4 weeks pregnant

Hello

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of severe abdominal pain in very early pregnancy. Found out I was pregnant last week (hurray!) after four years of unexplained infertility and this BFP was from our third IVF round. A few days after the BFP from the blood test at the Fertility clinic, I was asleep in the middle of the night, and was woken up by absolutely horrendous stomach ache. It literally lasted about five minutes. I felt sick but wasn't sick, and TMI I know, but needed the toilet very badly. I was then shaking with cold for about 10 minutes with leg pains and that was it. Absolutely nothing else since and no bleeding but am on IVF medication so don't know if I'd bleed. I rang the clinic and they said given it's only happened once and given the leg pains it may be a blood clot. But I'm on blood thinners?

Obviously managed to scare the life out of myself with Dr Google. But could use some experience if anyone has any?

Thank you!

I'd keep an eye on it. Rest up and don't be alone. I had something similar and had to go to hospital later. I don't mean to scare you as it could be n

Could be nothing, but better to be safe! Xxxx

Op this sounds serious. Please go to your gp

Verytirednow · 29/09/2022 13:06

I would get checked out incase it’s ectopic . 💐

I've spoken to both the clinic and GP and both sounded fine about it. Said just to keep an eye on it and if it happens again to go to A&E. I don't have any fallopian tubes, but could I still have an ectopic without them?

I have no pregnancy symptoms but didn't before the BFP anyway. I literally feel completely normal.

You wake with “severe abdominal pains” and you are in very early pregnancy and they said just to keep an eye on it? I’d still book an app with Gp. You can always cancel but then if something happens in next day or two - it’s lined up

How are you op?

Appleby11 · 01/10/2022 10:36

@Doingprettywellthanks I'm fine thank you. Just in limbo I suppose. I chased up the GP, and they won't give me an appointment given that it's only happened once (there's only two PT GPs there). The clinic seemed pretty chilled out about it. They mentioned ligament pain but I'll have to wait for my scan to see what if anything has happened. I've POAS and that's still positive but apparently can be for a while 🤷‍♀️

Please take intense pain and bleeding really seriously in early pregnancy, ectopic pregnancies are very dangerous. Have you spoken to the EPU?

RJD23 · 18/01/2023 17:18

What was the outcome op? X

Appleby11 · 20/01/2023 19:42

Hello! They thought a blood clot but everything was fine. I'm IVF so have had a lot more scans. I had a SCH about a month later but again that was fine. Am nearly 23 weeks and she's bouncing around on my bladder at the minute 😊
