Yolk sac developing late

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else before and what the outcome was…

2 weeks ago I had a scan (i should of been 8 weeks pregnant). The scan showed an empty sac and blood inside the sac. The nurses explained it would be a missed miscarriage and to come back in a further 2 weeks to double check.
2 weeks later (now 10 weeks) the scan showed the blood had disappeared and a yolk sac has formed. I now have to wait a further 2 weeks to see if anything else develops. The nurses were shocked and confused aswell as me as to why this has suddenly developed

has this happened to anyone else and what was the outcome?

Yes this has happened to me! Went for a scan at 7.5 weeks and they found an empty sac. Was told to come back in a week and the sac has doubled in size and the yolk sac has developed. I’ve been bleeding heavily so had assumed the miscarriage had begun.

Ive been told to go back next week and then they’ll be able to either see further progression or get me to see the doctor about options. To be honest I just feel like it’s delaying the inevitable and I just want it all to be over.

2 weeks is a long time to wait! I hope all goes well for you

Fingers crossed everything is okay for you!
I haven’t had any bleeding or pains and I feel like I’m delaying the inevitable too. I feel like it’s constantly prolonged and hoping for a positive outcome. Please keep me updated if you can x

@Louiseamyxoxo sorry it’s taken a while. After my last message I had 3 days of pains and heavy bleeding with clots and went for my next scan and everything had passed. However the lining of my womb is still thick so I have to take a pregnancy test next week and if it’s still positive then go back for treatment. Whilst its very sad I’m relieved it’s over as we knew this wouldn’t have a happy ending 3 weeks ago.

I hope you are ok!

So sorry this happened to you.

4 days after my last scan showing a yolk sac I had heavy pains and blood clot bleeding.
I got admitted into hospital where a doctor had to ‘get out’ all the clots to which he came across a 12 week baby. Turns out there was a baby the whole time and they are unsure why it was never seen on scans. Unfortunately I has miscarried it that day.

hope your are okay! I feel the same relief but I also feel uncertainty that there was a baby the whole time and they failed to see it until I ‘birthed’ it x
