Anyone else getting leg cramps in the first trimester? I keep waking up in the middle night with awful cramps in my calves and it's awful! Anyone else have this?

Yep, annoying and common. And the whole way through not just the start. Try eating more potassium, a bit more salt, and get some magnesium spray for your calves

Yep. They were for me! Super annoying as my sleep hadn’t been great anyway

Yes! It's been a few years since I was in the first trimester but they were recurrent throughout both my pregnancies, back of calf or toes for me. Walking it off is the only way to get rid, it's painful at first but should stop after a few seconds. It would feel sore the next day, like I'd had a workout in that area so wherever it strikes massage in the morning and evening with oil. I found if I didn't the tight feeling would turn into another cramp.

Better You magnesium spray is the answer - get the sensitive one if you can as the normal one can prickle a bit! Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy :)

God yes, I had them a lot when I was younger and competitive swimming but hadn't for years til I was pregnant. I used to eat salt sachets at galas to try and help lol. Upping my fluid intake helped me a lot this time round.

Yes, they woke me up in the morning

FruitBadger · 27/09/2022 22:52

Yes! A glass of tonic water each day stopped them for me. Continued throughout my first pregnancy if I forgot to drink it one day.

Chat to your MW as they've seen and heard it all before and have advice if you're worried

Fruby · 28/09/2022 06:25

Yep I’ve been getting them all the way through!
