Could it be too early to test?

A little bit about me..

I came off the pill 15 weeks and 2 days ago now,
I experienced no withdrawal bleed, I had no issues coming off the pill.
My first period kicked in 10 weeks and 6 days after coming off the pill.

This period was as normal as they can be, lasted 6 days and was not too heavy but not light either.. so this is normal for me and how I have already been.

I am now 3 days late for my period. (Possibly 12 days pregnant).
However I was showing as negative on a test yesterday.
I use an app that tracks my periods, ovulation, fertile days and all the days in between etc (Flo).

So the question I would like to ask, is do you think I could be testing too early?

Should it show positive by only day 12?

I'd love to hear your experiences too ( how many DPO did it take for your tests to become positive if they were initially showing negative?)

Apologies about the long post & thank you in advance for responding!

If you have only had one period since coming off the pill it might be that your cycles have not regulated yet so can be difficult to tell. I'd wait another day or 2 and test again.

@NeverHadANickname well that's what I thought, but then I think about how the period was pretty much spot on to what it use to be and I think could that be the case 🤔

I've been feeling very unwell too..
Faint, sick, headaches, hungry all the time..
And weeing more often, which I guess is also why I think I may have a positive soon.. but not sure..

I already have a son (almost 4) and I was poorly throughout the whole pregnancy!

I think I picked up my pregnancies 3- 4 days before my period was due with an early response test so if you’re late I definitely don’t think it’s too early, but if your cycle is messed up a bit it’s hard to know.

DanielleViolet · 26/09/2022 22:31

@Coybubbles, it's definitely a hard one.. its even harder when I've been feeling unwell..

As well as that I read up that HCG levels begin to appear once placenta has began to appear etc. Which Is 12 to 15 days after conception..

So I don't know 😕

Well sometimes you just know you’re pregnant, I did before the tests told me. I’d keep testing if I were you, it’s all you can do really….I sympathise because even though I got my results early it was all I could think about every day. Fingers crossed you will know for sure soon!

@DanielleViolet HCG is present after implantation, which can be as early as 6dpo, but is usually detectable on a good test like a FRER at 10/11/12dpo.

If you've only been tracking ovulation with an app and not actually checking LH levels and/or BBT then your ovulation dates could be way off.

I would just test every few days.

I have also definitely convinced myself that I’ve as was pregnant before my period was due when I definitely wasn’t.

Its a tough one OP, I tested positive on day 12 but I have really short cycles so it wasn’t that long before my period was due.

NeverHadANickname · 28/09/2022 02:29

Have you done another test OP?.

It took a good 6 months for my periods to regulate after I came off the pill, the first couple of cycles were 50ish and then 43 days and then they slowly reduced to a more normal length
