Ladies who have had a gender scan around 16 weeks

Went for a gender scan at the weekend (16w5d) was told we are having a boy, which I'm super happy about!

However I didn't see any potty shots as I wanted the whole thing to be a surprise for our small family reveal which we had later that day, thinking about it now I wish I had asked the sonographer to print one for me to look at after the reveal for reassurance. My NHS 20 week scan is 3 weeks today. One of the pictures I could of chosen from looked a little girly, maybe it was down to the positioning of baby/the way the photo was taken.

Was your gender scan correct?

Love to hear from some of you, I'll attach my photo from the scan.

Thank you @Kerrielouise84 the sonographer said she was 99% sure on the gender however when she put the big screen on so we could see baby they were being awkward and kept curling round or facing away from us 🙈 I just hope she has got the answer correct, in the meantime I'm on countdown till my NHS 20 week scan 🤭

@allthingssparkly this was mine. She's now nearly 6 months.
Honestly, still can't see what the sonographer saw to know DD is a girl 😂 but was soo happy she was correct.

Thank you @wannabeamummysobad I'm going for my midwife appointment tonight maybe I'll get her thoughts, although she will probably tell me I need to wait for my 20 week scan 🙈 hopefully she does baby's heartbeat tonight 🤞

My 16 week potty shot was pretty clearly a boy. 20 weeks scan is next week so I will ask them to confirm but I’m pretty sure it was right from the photo!

Ahh that's good @Rosesandteacups hopefully all goes well at your 20 week scan, I'm so annoyed at myself for not getting them to print me off a potty shot at my private gender scan 😩😩

Scan was correct at 16 weeks, however I would highly recommend doing a NIPT test (I did mine at 10 weeks). It detects chromosome abnormalities in a developing fetus and determines the sex of the baby.

Thanks @AnnBt

The sonographer had a guess both times when we went for the NIPT at 12 weeks (as you find out from the DNA anyway so they are happier to guess) and it was right both times (children already born).

Mine was incorrect. But it was a shirt scanning machine - I saw a sign fundraising for a new one outside the main door

I think a boy at 16 weeks is most likely right. A girl seems to be more likely to be wrong, although in saying that a friend was told twin boys and it turned out to be twin girls 😂 I had a boy last time, 16 week scan was correct. Having a girl this time and had a 16 week scan, waiting to confirm with my 20 week scan but I feel like a girl could be more likely to be wrong
