I am completely off starchy/carby foods. What's the deal with that then?

I'm 23 weeks and bump has only started showing in the last 2 weeks. I am not yet in maternity clothes or suffering from having my stomach too squashed to eat much in one go. I just can't face pasta/potatoes/rice etc. Toast in the morning is OK, everything else is bleurgh.

I am eating enough protein/dairy and consuming staggering amounts of fruit & veg.

Anyone else had this? Is it likely to cause a nutritional deficiency of some sort?

tbh it's more likely to combat any deficiency you had already

but then I seem to spend pregnancy stuffing myself with entire shelves of baked goods, so what do I know?

No, you'll be fine. I craved meat for several weeks and am currently craving salad and eschewing potatos. I think your body has a plan even if your mind can't fathom it! I'm still taking preggy vits though just in case!

So I guess the worse outcome is lack of energy and a sluggish digestive system and I've had that in all 3 previous pregnancies anyway!

I am addicted to raw carrots at the moment. This always happens. Perhaps all my children are destined to have excellent night vision .

I wish I could STOP stuffing my face with carbs tbh. Of all the things to crave, fruit and veg has to be one of the best. You could always take a fibre supplement to help the digestion. Fibre-Sure is expensive but is on 3 for 2 at Boots at the mo.
Congrats on your pregnancy.
