Does my 12 week scan look weird?

Hi all recently had my 12 week scan and was measuring a day ahead at 12+4. I’m a healthy 28 y/o and this is my first pregnancy.
It was done by a midwife at a GP surgery and the equipment was old looking and portable as they had to fit in some scans quickly for those that were cancelled due to the Queens funeral.
Also the picture is flipped as baby was facing head down and wouldn’t move lol.
Anyway she did 3 Nuchal Translucency measurements which were 2.6, 2.9 and 3.
I had bloods taken as well so awaiting those results.
The midwife didn’t seem concerned about the scan.
But the more I look at it, I can’t really see a nasal bone and it looks a bit weird. Pairing this with a possible NT of 3 it has worried me a little.
Does anyone have any experiences of similar looking scans or a NT of 3 or do you think it’s just a poor image and due to baby not facing the right way?
Would appreciate your views, thanks x

I had my 12 week scan on 31/08 however mine was performed at the hospital by a sonographer. I think your picture looks normal but the quality of your scan is very bad compared to how mine came out. I'm not a scan expert so wouldn't like to say if this was due to baby's position or the equipment.
I know every trust does things differently, not sure where you live but if you are worried ask to go for another scan or even look at the option of a private scan. Even with the private scans though check it is with a qualified sonographer not just a bonding scans.
If your main worry is the results of the screening test you normally get these back very quickly if you're considered high risk.

@Newmumma516789 thanks for your response. I guess I am quite disappointed at the quality of the scan. I asked to listen to the heart beat and she said she wasn’t sure if the equipment could pick it up (but it did) which is what made me question the equipment. I think I’ll make sure my 20 week scan is at the hospital!

My 12 week scan looks like craters on the moon. Or a scene from Aliens. I was disappointed as I wanted a nice picture for the mantelpiece! I ended up getting a private scan with a much clearer picture that's still on my mantelpiece and my baby is 8 weeks old.

Honestly, this just looks really shit quality! I'm not a sonographer so can't say anything about findings (I assume the midwives are trained sonographers?)

Looks like both of mine, bit like a baby bird.

I was on the verge of tears because I couldn’t see a nose in our 12 week scan (I’ll blame the hormones). Still pregnant but future scan seems to suggest there is in face a nose.

Can you afford a private scan to put yourself at ease? If you can hold off for a few weeks until 16 or so you may get a clearer picture.

My 12 week scan looked like an oil slick.

It's just a bad picture. My 12 week scan photo is awful. There's like a head and not much else.
I had scans at 11, 16 and 17 weeks privately and they try much harder to get you a nice photo.
I've had nhs scans at 20, 28, 30, 33 and 36 weeks and the pictures are terrible. They are there to check the baby is OK and then kick you out ready for the next patient, they don't really have time to get a nice picture which is a shame especially when you still have to pay.

The quality looks poor - sorry. My scan was done in the hospital and could see the heart beating and everything. The best quality pictures I got though was at a private scan, better than the NHS even. It's worth the money if you can afford it.

KeepOutingMyselfAnotherNameChange · 25/09/2022 18:35

Looks like every other scan photo I've ever seen.

Thank you all for the responses. Reassuring to see you think the scan quality is bad too and have had similar experiences.
I May go for a private scan after 16 weeks.
