37+6 and every time I've woke during the night last night my hands have hurt, super sore and stiff, the joints especially.
My hands don't look swollen as I thought it could be that.
Anyone else had this ?

Get checked for Rheumatoid Arthritis, especially if there's family history.
Pregnancy can trigger the dormant disease.
It's just a blood test and best found early.

Could be carpal tunnel? Excess fluid and swelling in pregnancy causes compression of the nerves and ends up in pins and needles. Had it with both pregnancies

This could also be athralgia, caused by certain medications like antidepressants.

Wow three different things lol thank you ladies. I do take sertraline but only 50mg

It's the joints in my fingers that are sore, now I'm up and about it's easing off but last night it was worst

The same thing happened to me in my pregnancies in the last few weeks, it eases through the day and will stop after the birth. Hope it all goes well

I had this in both of my pregnancies. It was caused by pregnancy swelling which put pressure on my joints in my hands when I slept. I ended up with De Quervains tenosynovitis but it eased after I had the baby.

I'm 38 weeks and I have this every morning in my fingers but it quickly goes away as I move my hand/ fingers. I was told by my midwife it's just swelling, and your hand resting in one position. Felt like arthritis to me haha. Best just to phone and ask your midwife for advice anyway for peace of mind.

Can i ask how long it took to ease? I'm 6 months postpartum and having to wear wrist supports and wait for cortisone injections! GP just said wrist supports and try no heavy lifting!! Whilst acknowledging i had a massive heavy baby to lift every day 🙄🤨

Oh gosh, I struggle to remember now as my youngest is 10 (!!) but I do remember it wasn't instantly. I ended up at the physio a few times who did a weird ultrasound thing on me and gave me some exercises. I think the GP gave me naproxen too.

maisiedaisy64 · 25/09/2022 21:10

I had it somewhere in the second trimester, used to wear wrist splints at night. It randomly disappeared after a few weeks

inheritanceshiteagain · 25/09/2022 21:23

Probably is swelling which just isn't very obviously

CurbsideProphet · 26/09/2022 13:31

I have this. I asked the physio I was seeing about my pelvic girdle pain and she said it is very normal, caused by build up of extra fluid. Should drink plenty of fluids after giving birth and make sure to wee a lot.

This happened to me around the same point in my pregnancy and it was carpal tunnel. It lasted about 3 weeks or so after having my DD but it went away eventually
