25 weeks pregnant atm with a killer cold. It's been a few days and I just cannot breathe at all through my nose. I've honestly never had a cold like this in my life, usually I can breathe out of one side, or remedies like a steamy shower help. But nothing gets rid of it and my.throat is so sore from constantly breathing through my mouth. I keep getting light headed too because it feels like I'm out of breath, like breathing through my mouth isn't giving me enough oxygen :( I got a few hours asleep tonight and now I'm up again and I just cannot fall back asleep. I think chasing my 2 year old during the day on top of it is just the final nail in the coffin

Anybody else ill atm too, can relate or got any advice? :( Just feel totally battered

Yes! I felt like this around my due date and thankfully I was late! Was worried how id manage in labour when I felt so awful just lying in bed. My chest hurt from the coughing, and no it wasn’t covid ☺️Can’t offer any great advice but definitely can relate🥰

@Flowergirl89 omg! I've actually been thinking about how awful it would be getting a cold/cough while being in labour. Like labour is bad enough I can't imagine the extra headache, breathing problems, etc on top of that?! I'm glad that you managed to avoid going through both together 😰 fingers crossed I'm the same and escape the illnesses by January but I definitely haven't picked a great time of year to be pregnant 😬 only upside is the baby will get the antibodies I suppose

I had Covid in the first trimester. Coughing led to vomiting. Most of the time, I couldn’t tell the difference between morning sickness and Covid symptoms because one brought on the other.

I have no advice but lots and lots of sympathy. 💐

Yes! Currently 33+6 and in hospital with Covid - I have never felt more knackered in my life. The thought of having a newborn in a few weeks time is quite daunting at the moment. With my first at this point I was still out and about for long walks etc, which is just unthinkable now. Hope you feel better soon!

Yes I had something similar a couple of weeks back and was utterly miserable as all my go to remedies weren’t suitable during pregnancy. In the end I ordered sterimar cold and protect nasal sprays, there were two I used, one for congestion and one to shorten the length of a cold and both had me feeling better within a couple of days. DH supplemented this by making me non-alcoholic hot toddys with honey, ginger and lemon which also helped a lot.

Yes I'm 34 weeks pregnant, also with a 2yo and am bunged up again. I've had so many colds this pregnancy.
I've been using my son's olbas oil (the baby friendly version) to try and unblock my nose to sleep. Works for about half the night.
Hope you feel better soon xx

Yes! I feel awful, more exhausted than when I had Covid and wasn't pregnant! I think it hits harder with all the hormones and body changes and I'm nowhere near as far along as you. Hope you feel much better soon x

Razputini · 25/09/2022 07:40

Aw thank you for your replies and wishing me well, I hope those of you sick at the moment as well recover quickly too. My nose suddenly unblocked on one side at 4am-ish and it was amazing! So I've had a bit more sleep now, but every day I wake up thinking I'll be better though and I just feel bunged up again 😵‍💫

I really sympathise with those in a later stage - I'm trying to wrap my head around how I'm gonna cope if I get ill again 30+ weeks like some of you are/have been. I feel uncomfortable now but on top of all the late stage symptoms 😬 it must be a nightmare.

Honestly you're totally right though @StarsieZ and I think pregnancy is already such a hard time with all the work your body's doing so a bug just wipes you out at any stage, even if you aren't as far along as me atm. First trimester aches, tiredness and morning sickness while having a bug is a horrid thought... 😰 Hope you feel better soon

@Razputini have you tried nasal strips? I'm using them overnight at the moment for pregnancy rhinitis (nearly 36 weeks) and definitely make a difference to helping me breathe easier.

Nasal strips were a godsend for me too during most of my pregnancy. They gently hold the nasal passages open.

Ugh yes, I’m 38+4 and have caught a stinking cold from my 2 y/o! Both of us are quite unwell with it! I feel like I’m swallowing a thousand bloody razor blades. Taken 2 covid tests and not covid so happy about that at least!

LT2 · 25/09/2022 09:45

I had both a common cold and Covid when pregnant (the cold was first) and the cold was the worst! I always suffer when I get the common cold though. Twice I've had Covid (unvaccinated) and it's been much, much milder than a cold. Give me Covid over a cold anyday!
