Friend in Australia wants to send me something - any suggestions?

One of my oldest friends emigated to Australia and has asked if there's anything I would like for the baby - I cant think! Obviously it cant be too heavy either. All I cant think of right now is stockpiling nappies, muslins and maternity pads so any suggestions would be welcome!

If you're thinking about getting a baby carrier/sling thing, one of the ones that has been getting good reviews is hug-a-bub, which is an Australian brand, so that might be a nice thing for your friend to send? Not too bulky I shouldn't think.

I'm an Aussie living in London and got a few things sent over from home.

Hug-a-bug sling is magic My DD (8 months old today) still goes in it. Fabulous for sleeping them like a little peapod on you so great for flying, sitting in movies, restaurants etc...

I bought a sheepskin to line her pram as well. Only $30 AUD where you pay around £30-40 here.

Pumpkin Patch is an Aussie brand of clothes (you can get it in John Lewis I think) that is really lovely.

I'll see if I can think of anything else

Congrats!!

Our ozzie friends sent us some hand puppets, they have some ace ones out there - obviously not much good when they are newborn but once they get active - gosh they love them.

Mmm that's a tough one. My back is fine although after long walks it got a bit sore. But then I would just stop, have a latte or hot choc and keep going.

It always feels really comfortable though and the way the weight is distributed feels good. It doesn't pull on the shoulders or neck.

When are you due?

Smamfa · 24/01/2008 21:00

Not so good for babies, but I always get my SIL to send my kids long sleeved rash shirts (for beach/swimming in) and legionnaries style hats. For some reason manufacturers in the UK think it's OK for kids to get their forearms and necks burnt.

Oh Oh, and I love the Steve Parish Photo books about aussie animals...

I am also a huge fan of the bonds vests and baby grows. I am an Aussie living in Edinburgh and my DD slept in Bonds babygrows for the first year +.

MrsEi25 · 24/01/2008 21:39

We also got sent a baby lambskin from down under for ds1 which did for ds2 as well. Not the pram one, this one just lies under them in the moses basket and cot and keeps them snuggly but warm in winter and cool in summer. Still got it and can't bear to part with it.

Another vote for bonds vests and babygros - have fab colours out now as well as the usual white ones.

When I lived in the Uk and had dd1 that was all I asked for bonds vests - fabulous for summe r- can let them run around in vest and nappy.
