Is there truly any way to start my Labour? Induction in 3 days and I just want her here now!

I’m being induced in 3 days for medical reason but I will be 39 weeks. Iv had many signs labour is coming. So I feel I’m kinda ready and I hope my induction goes smoothly but I’d like to avoid it and my baby to just come naturally. Iv tried sex, a lot of sex. At least once a day for the last 3 weeks! Tried raspberry leaf tea. Hot food that I never ever eat, pineapple, walking for miles which I often do anyways, bouncing on my ball. Also I have tried the nipple stimulation. Is there anything that truly works or is it just when your body is ready?

Both of mine labour started the day I was due to be induced. I tried everything! I had a really spicy curry the night before I went into labour with my second. I’m not sure what I did just before I went into labour with my first but I’d tried all the things you have. I suspect they just come when they’re ready. Both times I waited until the last possible date to be induced, I really didn’t want it to happen that way.

I don’t think anything is proven to work. I went swimming at 41 weeks because I was mad and needed to leave the house. DS was born that evening. Convinced the swimming did it (rational part of my brain knows it didn’t).

Are you having orgasms with the sex? Do they give you Braxton Hicks/make your bump go tight? My second labour started after a couple of back to back orgasms 🤭

mummyh2016 · 23/09/2022 18:47

Have you tried reflexology?

Milkand2sugarsplease · 23/09/2022 18:47

Just keep trying it all, just to try to avoid an induction.

Same for me!

I tried virtually everything with ds2 - acupuncture, fresh pineapple, curry, orgasm, long walk, sitting on washing machine on spin dry etc (obvs not simultaneously) over a pew days. Nada.

Was induced at 42 weeks. Was also induced early at 38 weeks with ds1 as had high blood pressure. Both times went ok, needed no other medical interventions. Student midwives delivered both, and were straightforward (apart from a few stitches afterwards).

My midwife told me to sniff newborn babies! She claimed that the smell gets your hormones going... I'm not saying that it's scientifically sound, but it worked for me! Grin

I found I had to exert myself much more than usual. So if you walk a lot just doing the same daily amount won't do it. Try walking faster so you puff more than usual, or walk up hills?
Sadly you may find nothing works though. But good luck!

Try a pedicure or reflexology. Also really ripe pineapple. And lots of walking, apparently up and down stairs if you can face it. I did these thing with dd3 who arrived on her due date but my other two were both around two weeks late. Good luck op!

With my first I had reflexology during the day and labour started that evening.
Went in to he induced with the second but I only let them break my waters and refused to be tied to the bed all day.
They were great and let me go off for 2 hours a time, full labour and baby born that evening.
Good luck!

With my forth I had reflexology in the morning and waters went that evening ( I was already 2 weeks overdue though)
