Pre op swabs

Hi I'm due to have section in a week and today I had my pre-op. I know this sounds silly but I know the swab taken in my nose is for MRSA as midwife explained that but then I had to swab my perianal but she never said why that has to be swabbed. Was wondering if anyone knew why? Thanks
